Arizona is trying to retroactively become the 2010 Stanley Cup champions.

I guess Hossa's skin condition must have cleared up and they need somewhere to park the contract!

Chicago reacquires Kruger, Entwistle was ARZ's 3rd rounder in 2017, Maletta appears to be an AHLer only, as is Andrew Campbell.

Kruger is a 4C at this point, playing 10-14 minutes a night. But also spent 1/4 of the season in the AHL.
Hinostroza is an upgrade over Kruger (25 points last year), and is 4 years younger.
Oesterle really started to find his game it looked like last year in Chicago. He was actually 2nd for defencemen on CHI last season in TOI.

So basically Chicago had to lose 2 younger players in order to get Arizona to take Hossa's contract.

There might be a lot of names there, but this is hardly what I would call a 'big' trade.

If I was a Yotes fan, I'd totally rock a Datsyuk Coyotes jersey.

Big for Chicago who has more money to work with, but yeah. Not really exciting from a fan standpoint. What it might bring could be.

Pretty much Kruger, Entwistle and a bit of room for Hinostroza, Oesterle and a 3rd.

Based on the players involved only, Arizona. But Hinostroza+Oesterle aren't game breakers.

Chicago took back Kruger's $2.775M cap, but lost $650k (Oesterle) + $1.5M (Hinostroza) and Hossa's LTIR of $5.275M.

So the Blackhawks have cap room for Brouwer?

Wonder if the Hawks would go for Brouwer if Flames retained half his salary. I think Brouwer at $2M would be at least bearable, and who knows. Hawks always seem to turn crap into something decent.

I’d bet me wooden leg and a bottle of rum this is a prelude to bringing back Panarin.

Effectively, they bought 4M of cap space and "downgraded" Hinostroza with the older Kruger for a pick swap and depth players (Hinostroza is worth watching though, solid bottom 6 utility forward with upside). Entwhistle is young, no idea on his upside as a pickup for Chicago

I wouldn't factor in Oesterle's cap hit, he is making minimum and they need to add a 7th D in his place.

Chicago wins because they can and likely will now add to the roster.

It's BS that the NHL is allowing every team that signed a cap circumventing contract off the hook.

Chicago didn't give up anything really. A 3rd round pick.

Hinostroza and Oesterle are replacement level players.

Kruger is overpaid and will be done in a year.

Hawks get $5 million to add something in 2020 and 2021.
