This is what I was hoping for. I think Dallas is the best matchup for the Flames right now. I know you need to get through the good teams eventually but I think this is the easiest road. It also allows the Flames the opportunity to build momentum and they will certainly need to be firing on all cylinders to take out Colorado or Vegas.

Dallas hasn't won since February. I'm not counting today as a win, that was very preseason effort by both teams. Don't think we could ask for a better match-up. Now Flames need to show up and play like they can and it can be a good series for CGY.

It feels like things are playing about as in favour of the Flames as we could ask. Good opportunity to overcome the first round demons here, at least going by the head to head and play ins, compared to the other potential matchups.

Not necessarily because Dallas is the weakest of those teams, but because they didn't look good at all in their round robin.

So I guess this is the Blake Comeau bowl.
Honestly I think I would have preferred the Blues. Calgary has historically matched up very poorly against Dallas, although this year has proven an exception. Hope Calgary doesn't get lulled into a false sense security playing the Stars.
