Default Browser/Chrome question

I'd prefer to solve this in Chrome, but willing to use another browser.

There's one site in particular I use to stream hockey games and it now opens new tabs for ads. No add on I can find blocks it, other than one that totally disables new tabs from opening (even clicking the new tab button).

Is there a way to force chrome to ignore new tab requests from a specific site? Or a browser with no tabs at all?

I use Firefox with these two extensions (among others) I rarely if ever have any popups.

A browser with no tabs won't help the popup will become a new window.
