Some guys wife wanted to join our fantasy league. Her entire team is current or ex Blue Jays...guess who was in her lineup today to light me up for a 3 run home run....

Jose with a 3 run homer for the Braves tonight.

Hope he can do well for them. Love me some Joey Bats!

That homer against Texas is the greatest moment in sports I've ever witnessed.

It was a wind aided HR this afternoon, anyway.... lol

Ozzie Albies from the Braves is an unreal talent. Dude is 5'9'' 165 lbs and leading MLB in Hr's. He's Atlanta's version (or the NL version) of Jose Altuve.

God don't get me going there....in this league 4 teams are long established and you can keep 4 players. Those teams kept playes who you'd pick in rounds 1 to 4 save a couple. I kept all my waiver claims ftom last year Severino, Tommy Pham, Rhys Hoskins. So I had picks 1, 6, 8 of the remaining pool. Since the other teams picked all Blue Jays or pitching I got my top 3 rated guys and Brian Dozier in round 5....not wanting to drop Dozier yet I didnt pick up Albies....Stupid auto draft didn't get me Acuna Jr either because I got like q4 of my top 25 rated players. Arghh fantasy sucks. More so when the Auto draft goes bonkers on you.

Cano is getting 80 games for PEDs

Apparently, it's a masking agent but "he didn't mean to do anything wrong".

The Braves just got hosed on two straight out calls. What's the point of stupid ####ing replay technology if you can't figure this #### out?

This is crazy: Nationals haven't finished a game since SUNDAY!

Day off Monday, game suspended Tues, rained out Wed, day off Thurs, rained out tonight.

Then again I remember when they had trouble starting games when it wasn't raining...

The Braves have released Jose Bautista. Anthopoulos says Camargo will be the everyday third baseman.

Tampa Bay tried something a bit unconventional by starting Sergio Romo two days in a row against the Angels. Since pitchers seem to struggle a lot more going thru the order a third time the idea was make the likes of Trout, Upton, and Simmons face a different pitcher in their first at bat and not get a third look at the long guy until the 7th inning.

I actually like the idea. Teams are struggling like crazy to piece together a 5 man rotation that can get you 6 innings 3 times through the rotation. Maybe you get 2 guys to do that with a bullpen of guys that can go 2-3 innings more frequently.

I always wondered if one team could be bold enough to throw away the idea of "starters" and just have a 12-13 pitcher bullpen. All the guys would be able to throw 2+ innings and they would just cycle guys through depending on their splits against the other team. That way you'd never have a guy facing the same pitcher more than twice in the game, and maybe not even more than just once.

I think that would be really effective, but doubt I'll ever see it.

Angel Hernandez strikes again. How is he still a Major League umpire?? The worst umpire of all time. Seriously.#

I would pay to watch Craig Counsell fight Angel Hernandez (or any other manager or player) No joke. lol

In 2015, major leaguers hit .247 when facing a pitcher for the first time in a game, with an on-base percentage of .312 and a slugging percentage of .390. When facing a pitcher for the second time, they hit .261/.319/.416. When batting for a third time against the same pitcher, major leaguers hit .270/.330/.440.

In a 2013 piece for Baseball Prospectus, Mitchel Litchman took a deeper look at the numbers and declared that pitchers generally become weaker each additional time they have to work through the lineup — and he said this phenomenon is not simply a fatigue issue. Even at reasonably low pitch counts, a batter has a better chance once he's had more chances to face the same pitcher in a game.

Batters have better outcomes the deeper pitchers go.

2017 Major League times through order

SP 1st time: .314 wOBA
SP 2nd time: .332 wOBA
SP 3rd-plus: .340 wOBA
RP 1st time: .309 wOBA

wOBA is just like OBP, except it gives increasing value to extra-base hits rather than treating each time on base equally. The 2017 Major League average wOBA was .327.

This could be an interesting strategy - I wonder though if you would also be increasing the chances of a pitcher not having his "good stuff" that day, the more pitchers you introduce.
