If he turned down the NHL contract from Buffalo, sounds to me like it was a handshake deal here to sign it once he came back from the Olympics

in Stockton he has been paired mostly with Kylington and was on pace for career numbers in the AHL before the Olympics
he attended Sabres training camp on a try out. They offered him a NHL deal at the end of camp, but he turned it down so he would be eligible for the Olympics.

I would move Prout up higher, he has gotten a couple NHL helpers lately.

? Neither Goloubef or Prout has put up any NHL points since the 16/17 season.

He is refering to Sportsnet "accidently" giving him credit for assists last game.

I get that he's a RH defenseman, but I can't see him getting a call-up over Wotherspoon and Andersson. They are both having fantastic seasons.
I guess like like Badgers Nose says, he could be a bench-warmer.

I think maybe they were waiting for the Olympics to end to do this for awhile.
He is already on Stockton. So even though he wasn't part of the Flames organization.....he sort of was too.

I'm actually a little bit excited. Of all the players on that trashpile of a team... I actually liked this guy.
Seemed to play with a bit of jam when he had confidence. Would play pretty quietly defensively - which is good.
Would be interesting to see how that Olympic Hockey translates to the NHL.

So I'm assuming that this will be a 2 year deal and he's likely to be our 7th Dman next season, replacing Bartkowski?

Rarely are RHD 7d as they are rarely able to play the left side comfortably. I wouldn’t mind though.

Is that actually true?
Seriously I'm curious if you could back it up with any historical data.. Why is the left side more difficult to play as righty vs playing the right side as a lefty? Is it related to LH vs RH disparity in the league or are you making assumptions?
Either way the topic interests me for some reason. It may be the lack of RH shots in the forward ranks that makes me ponder when, where and how the handedness of a player impacts things..

I feel that they might be shopping Stone. Gives them a feeling of comfort if they trade Stone and bring up Andersson. If Rasmus bombs, they then have a RD with experience that can sub in. Gulutzan likes to keep his pairings on their correct side.
Not saying that they will definitely trade Stone, but why not shop him at the trade deadline and see what the interest is? Russell netted them a 2nd round pick and Pollock a couple years ago. Jokkipakka as well I think. Just spitballin.

Sorry I cannot provide statistics. You are fair to call me out on this. My comment is based on the lack of RHD. Rarely are teams in abundance and require a right D to make the shift. The last I can remember is the Jets with Ttouba, before Bogosian was moved. Troubadour was publicly annoyed about having to play his off side.
