I loved him when he was here, but no thank you.
The next time I see him in Flames silks I hope it is for a 1 day contract to retire.

This development seems like it is pretty obvious he's hoping for some kind of role on a Bruin's cup run.

Ooh, I hope he comes back to the bruins. If not the flames, I could definitely get behind the bruins to win the cup and knocking out the leafs in the process. Having Iggy there to do it would be the icing on the cake.

He needs to sign before the trade deadline to be eligible for the playoffs this season.

What makes you say that? Hip surgery would make conditioning work impossible for an extended period.

Hey, can someone remind me - wasn't there some kind of a December deadline in order to be eligible to play for the current season?
I think it was instituted about 10 years at the behest of Brian Burke when one of the Anaheim players was contemplating coming out of retirement, but waffling on making a final decision. Maybe Teemu Selanne?
Anyway, is that rule no longer vaild?

Doesn't Iggy live in Boston now? I'm pretty sure a cup contender like the Bruins would want warm bodies who've played all season rather than a player who's coming back from major hip surgery and who hasn't played hockey since what, 11 months ago? Iggy will be in tough, maybe the Coyotes or Sabres could use him for some help with leadership down the stretch.

RFAs must sign by December 1st to be eligible to play in a season.
There is no such restriction for UFAs.

Hes been one of the fittest men in hockey for years. There is plenty of things he can do to remain fit if that was his desire. Leg fatigue/ on ice conditioning would likely have taken a hit but overall fitness not likely. I think thats likely why he asked for this favor, to see if he has anything left to give and I think that's admirable.

Would love to see Iggy land a contract! With the Bruins, Pens, anyone.
I'll always be a fan.

No interest in seeing Iginla back with the Flames, but a run with the Bruins? Yep, I could get on board with that.

Call it nostalgia if you want but I think he is exactly what this team needs.
As long as he is fit enough to play, he could be a shot to the heart of this team. It would help bring some excitement to the fans, which could help the home record. Not to mention have him line on the PP2 opposite Stone for two shooting threats.

C'mon Iggy don't do it, I know you want a cup, but you don't want to be that guy that's too slow and too degraded and ends up being that guy in the press box.
You've won gold medals, you've made millions, you're secure for life.
Nobody wants to remember you as that guy who's game had passed him by.
