Day 3 (PM of Sunday Feb 11 - AM of Monday Feb 12)
I know that I'm posting this one pretty early, but I want to make sure that I get it up in time in case I oversleep today, and it also gives people a chance to plan their viewing. Great Day 2 for Canada yesterday with 3 Silver Medals and 1 Bronze, chances for more medals to be won today.
At 17:00 the Mixed Doubles Curling Semi Final against Norway will begin on TSN (it should be 1, 3, and 4, might be on CBC as well). Norway was the only team to beat Lawes and Morris (who have won 6 in a row since) in the round robin but required a tie breaker match against China to get into the Semi Final. For anyone who missed their personal information from a few days ago Lawes is from Winnipeg and won a Gold Medal in Sochi as the third for Jennifer Jones team. Morris, who lives in Canmore and is a firefighter with the Rocky View County Fire Service, won a Gold Medal in Vancouver as the third for Kevin Martin’s team.
Beginning at 18:00 the Final for the Women’s Slopestyle Event begins. Due to this event being cancelled yesterday due to the weather there will be no qualifying round, everyone in the event has a shot at the podium. Brooke Voight of Fort McMurray will be competing in her first Olympic games. Spencer O’Brien will be competing in her 2nd Olympics. 21-year-old Laurie Blouin will be boarding in her first Olympics, Blouin won the Gold Medal in this event at last year’s FIS World Championships.
Today sees the first run of the Ladies Giant Slalom event take place at 18:15, hopefully the weather will cooperate and there won’t be any delays. 27-year-old Erin Mielzynski is competing in her 3rd Olympic games and finished in 21st in this event in Sochi. Candace Crawford, Roni Remme, Laurence St. Germain, and Valerie Grenier are all making their Olympic debuts. The second run is scheduled to start at 21:45 and should be on Sportsnet.
The Men’s Free Skate of the Figure Skating Team Event will begin in 18:00 on CBC, Patrick Chan will be the skater for Canada and will skate 4th in the order. At 19:10 the Women’s Free Skate begins with Canada’s Gabrielle Daleman performing for Canada. At 20:20 the Ice Dancing Free event begins, Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir look to secure the Gold for Canada, skating 5th.
Not sure what channel it will be on the but the qualification for the Women’s Halfpipe begins at 21:45. 34-year-old Mercedes Nicoll is competing in her 4th Olympics in this event, her best result being a 6th place finish in Vancouver. Calynn Irwin and 16-year-old (16?!?!?!?!) Elizabeth Hosking will be making their Olympics debuts. Hosking finished 14th in this event at last year’s FIS World Championships at the age of 15.
At 00:40 Switzerland takes on Japan in the Women’s Hockey Tournament, this should be on CBC.
On Sportsnet at 03:10 the Women’s 10km Pursuit in Biathlon will begin. Rosanna Crawford of Canmore is participating in her 3rd Olympics. Julia Ransom, Emma Lunder, and Megan Tandy also will be competing for Canada.
At 03:30 it’s the last chance for qualification for Marc-Antoine Gagnon in the Men’s Moguls. This will probably be on CBC.
On Sportsnet 1 at 03:50 the Women’s Single’s Luge competition begins with the first 2 of 4 runs taking place today. A trio of Calgarians are representing Canada in this event. 30-year-old Alex Gough is competing in her 4th Olympics, her best result in this event came in Sochi where she just missed the podium finishing in 4th. 25-year-old Kimberly McRae is sliding in her second Olympics, looking to improve on the 5th place finish in Sochi. And the youngest competitor is 18-year-old Brooke Apshkrum who won a Gold Medal in this event at the 2016 Youth Olympic Games.
The second Semi-Final in the Mixed Doubles Curling between Switzerland and Russia takes place at 04:00 on TSN.
The Finals for the Men’s Moguls begins at 05:00 on CBC. Mikael Kingsbury and Philippe Marquis have already qualified, hopefully Marc-Antoine Gagnon can qualify as well. This is an event with HUGE medal potential for Canada.
At 05:00 the Men’s 12.5km Pursuit in Biathlon will begin. Not sure which channel this will be on.
Beginning at 05:10 is a matchup in the Women’s Hockey Tournament between Sweden and the Korean team.
On CBC at 05:30 the Women’s 1500m Long Track Speed Skating event will begin. Kali Christ of Regina is skating in her second Olympics, as is Calgary’s Brianne Tutt. Josie Morrison (Wife of Denny Morrison) will be making her Olympic debut.
The 1st Round of the Women’s Individual Normal Hill ski jumping event begins at 05:50. Calgary’s Taylor Henrich, who began ski jumping at age 7 at COP is competing in her second Olympic games. The final is scheduled to begin at 06:35.

Seems cheap to reduce the slopestyle to 2 runs. It's scheduled for 3. maybe a cutoff after 2 runs and have a final 3rd championship run.

Wow they must have read my post from yesterday. 3 runs is ridiculous. Put up or shut up.

I think it ensures that people actually go for a tough run. With just a single attempt or even two attempts people probably play it a lot safer.

Exactly!!! That was beyond ridiculous for the 1st run for the men's yesterday. It looked like a practice session.

First end was a miss ok
Second end was greedy. No need to go anywhere near the house. Guard and go up 4-0
