I'll never forget Charlie Boorman and Ewan McGregor eating horse schlong in "Long Way Round".

Reading about it was even worse than watching it on video......one of the grossest food moments I've ever. After that, I won't even ride a horse.

At least it wasn't the runs, or you may have had to canter to the washroom.

I would not, could not, eat a horse
I do not think they're food, of course
stable friends and transportation
there, for me, is no temptation
for Silver, Trigger, Mr. Ed
to be a meal on which I'm fed

Poultry, Pasta, Veggies, Fruit
Pork and Beef and Fish all suit
These consume until you're sated,
but Horse should not be masticated

I would not, could not on a plane
or in a bus, car, boat or train
I would not eat them in a truck
I won't eat horses, Calgary Puck.

I ate horse on occasion while living in France and never found it tough or stringy at all. It was like eating a very lean steak and actually tasted really good. I wouldn't go out of my way to get it again - especially if beef were readily available - but I would have no trouble eating it if I had to. I like horses, but my allegiance to animals only goes so far.

Will ya guys quit posting pictures of Sarah Jessica Parker?? Even among horses, she's not something I want to look at. In fact, it would be better to post pictures of real horses!

Now I will have to post pics of Brienne to even it out!

Just to add what others have said-- its quite common in other parts of world, including Europe. I'm in Sardinia right now (Italy), and last night we had the equivalent of upscale fast food at a joint named Hamburgerlandia. On the menu was an option of cow or horse steak for the same price. Complete with bright red plastic trays and plastic cutlery...
