There are also reports that Hamas gunmen have opened fired in Israeli towns.

Reports are that there are at least 4 dead and 100 wounded in Sderot so far.

Israel has also announced a wide call-up of reservists. This is going to get pretty hairy.

Some of the details coming out are disturbing, like dozens of Israelis kidnapped and lynched, people bring massacred at bus stops, people getting their throats cut in the streets ....

I'm not sure how Israel and the IDF were caught off guard by this but once Israel gets organized, it's going to get very, very ugly for Hamas and the Palestinians.

Also, the attack was launched on the 50th anniversary of the Yom Kippur War. That the Israelis were not on a heightened state of alert for this alone is odd.

Huge failure of Israeli intelligence here. This is a multi-front coordinated attack.

And some absolutely terrifying scenes of Israeli’s being slaughtered and kidnapped.

Hope every terrorist beats their last breath today.

Have to think that this is Russia helping Iran who is funding it all.

Not going to end well.

My sister in law has family in Israel. While I fear for her families well-being, I have sat through many uncomfortable conversations where she regarded Palestinians as vermin. I know it is complicated and tied into a long history, but Damnit if it doesn't feel like a both sides suck situation to me.

Wonder how much of the 6 billion in funds released by the States to Iran for hostages ended up with Hamas.

Yeah this is going to be extremely bad and the civilians on both sides are completely caught in the middle.

Very much a case where, while what is happening is horrific and you can’t imagine being a civilian caught in that situation, there’s really no side to take.

It is hard not to think that restricting access to water during the hottest summer in history would increase tensions.

The war hasn't started. Hamas is solely targeting civilians. This could easily end in Palastine being pushed out completely.

This makes no sense.

If you're casting this as a situation with "two sides", then you are by definition lumping in Hamas and the terrorists who are currently intentionally targeting civilians in with the Palestinian "side"... they're certainly not on Israel's side. In which case, the side with the terrorists is the wrong side.

If you're not lumping in those terrorists with other Palestinians, and not simplifying the situation into one with just two sides, it's not hard to figure out which side to take: the side of the people fighting the terrorists who are intentionally targeting civilians.

Damn, dude. You just solved the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. After over 100 years, when you put it that way, it’s just so simple! Why didn’t anyone think of this before?
