RFA vs UFA contract

No ones fault but your own you fail to understand that, ricardodw.

Magniapane does not want to be a Flame . He is a small skilled player that was NHL ready... so what do the Flames do... they go out and get 2 more small skilled players, Ryan and Czarnik.
Mangiapane was not NHL ready last fall, he wasn't NHL ready until 20-30 games into his 44 last season.

Bad contracts are bad for the whole team.

Czarnik would likely clear waivers. Someone would likely pick up Magniapane.

Its almost as if things happen differently for an RFA vs a UFA.

Weird eh?

Was Giordano using Winter as an agent when he went to Russia for a year? Giordano was similar as an undrafted guy who had done well in the AHL and played pretty well in a half season with the Flames. Flames offered Gio a 2 way deal on a team with lots of one way committments on D and he balked.

In this case I don't think there are enough reasons not to get Mangiapane signed. Player needs to play and be in camp and they seem to be close enough on a contract not to have one done. I do not think Mangiapane is a replacement level player who will easily be replaced. Hopefully a deal gets done here.

Ok Ricardo that was some pretty bizarre stuff, and you've set a bar!

The key for Treliving is to be classy and forthright with these things. He isn't hammering Mangiapane, he's using the leverage he has, just as players will use theirs when the advantage is on their side.

He isn't proven. He doesn't have a lot of tenure. It's a deep team with lots of options. Teams keep rosters to 22 players to accrue cap space so why just hand $150K to a player when he doesn't have to?

My guess is it's not entirely about money anymore, and at some point in the last weeks or months, the AM camp changed course and the ask vs what they had told BT earlier in the process.

And thus he's now on the list that Brett Kulak was. And left twisting in the wind, and even if he comes back with tail between legs, (AM camp is now looking for any win out of this mess) may not end well for AM as Flame.

And for the reasons as Bingo mentioned about where this player fits, especially with some PTO players that appear to be impressing, BT will give no benefit of the doubt or leverage to someone who doesn't have it, and stick to his QO full stop.

Martin St.Louis had 69 games and 20 pts with the Flames before they thought the organization would be better off without him.

In this case it wasn't money. St.Louis got $250 K in Tampa for 2 years.. The same as his 2 years in Calgary.

The game was completely different when MSL was playing, and you know it ricordo. The Flames thought MSL was too small, and they screwed up.

You're using a pretty extreme and rare example to compare Eat Bread to. Doesn't make a lot of sense.

Prior to last season, Czarnik had played 59 NHL games and scored 5 goals and 12 assists.

Mangiapane has played 54 NHL games and scored 8 goals and 5 assists. He is also 2 and a half years younger than Czarnik was last summer.

Also, the only reason why Czarnik was a UFA last year (Group 6) is because he didn't have enough NHL experience for Boston to retain his RFA rights.

WTH was this ricardow character talking about that Mangiapane doesn't want to be a Flames? I had him on ignore, but everytime someone quoted him and reading those still get my blood boil.

Sorry for ranting in your post, Rando.
