Luckily Chia and Dumbass never had a chance to ruin the RFA market for d-men because they never had any good ones.

I would disagree 6.75 for two RFA tears is a lot.

Trouba at 8 was an overpay. After that you have Fowler with 7.5 for 8. These guys gain 2 UFA years and are still getting paid. The organizations give up two prime years compared to where Trouba was and if they wan to keep them will have to pay for two Bad years on the back end. And they are doing with close to 7 mil cap hits.

Lower term while maintaining high dollars is the new RFA play.

I think these deals are teams and players reaching reasonable compromises each knowing that they have reached peak leverage and the best deals are on the table.

This isn't the NFL. It's not a meat grinder league demolishes star players and leaves them unable to function at 40.

In fact, I can't think of a single recent example of a star player who didn't make it to at least 30 before their decline began, and they all still got sweet retirement contracts.

These guys are all going to get in the neighborhood of $50M guaranteed if they signed right now.

Get to ####ing camp.

I think Provorov's initial ask was around $9 million. He settled for less than $7 million and he gave up some UFA years on the process. I think that indicates the player reliniquished their position to a certain extent.

If it's true that Marner actually turned down 7 X $11m starting today the offer should go down a $100 grand a day until he signs. Idiot

The team probably started with the full 8 at a max of what this deal needed up at. I don’t think either side is caving just both sides realizing that they are at the point of maximum leverage so a deal is made in the middle of the two sides. None of these are amazing bargains or ridiculous overpay.
