On Thursday, Rafael Nadal was granted the Grand Cross of the Order of Dos de Mayo, the highest honor the Madrid region can grant. The decoration was given in tribute to his status as the best Spanish athlete of all time.

well done, though I feel as if he's probably already had that title for the past decade already. it would be like if they finally decided to declare Roger the greatest Swiss athlete of all time, just now.

Fed at the top of the podium, Swiss alpine skier Pirmin Zurbriggen takes the silver, and former Flames standout Sven Baertschi takes the bronze.

Maybe Sven and Martin Gerber can duke it out for the bronze.

What about all time Flames great Jonas Hiller?

Or Stan Wawrinka? It's pretty crazy to think after producing no male Grand Slam winners they get 2 at the same time.

I don't know much about soccer but I assume Spain has some good soccer players on that list. Also some good basketball players

Peter Muller was really good - had the rivalry with the Crazy Canucks.

Looks like Indian Wells is going to be cancelled for 2021 as well. It seems like a life time ago when they cancelled it the first time. I remember thinking there are only 3 cases in the area they are going overboard. If I only knew what was to follow, oh to be that young and naive again......

well I didn't think traveling down there was going to be possible next year anyways, but still sucks cause Roger normally has a good showing and it might have been his last entry into it.

I will make a point of attending IW 2022 edition to stalk our young and fresh Canadians as they should be well on their way to taking the game over by that time.

that would be fun, but at the same time I have a mental image of what everyone on CP looks like, and I'm not sure if it's a good or bad thing to shatter that illusion. like for example I assume that NF walks around in a bandana and sleeveless t-shirt, carrying around a stack of Batman comics. can the real thing live up to that...

That’s a good point.

I picture dash_pinched as salt bae, who types with one hand in the posture of which that dude sprinkles his salt.

Seasoning us with all things tennis.

You should see me at work, I have to pick a wedgie, touch my nose, wipe the sweat off my brow, tap the keyboard 8 times, put my hair behind my ears every time I write an email. It got so bad they instituted a shot clock in between emails for me
