Yeah I guess the end is still a bit of a DEM, but at least it establishes the sepoys.
You can read the part here:
https://www.imsdb.com/scripts/Indian...e-of-Doom.html
Scenes 128-131.

Had to turn the volume down multiple times as the female lead and the kid took turns running back and forth screaming at bugs or snakes or other gross stuff. The writing for the female lead was really bad, night and day from Marion in the first movie.

The only decent Indiana Jones movie is Raiders.
After that the franchise ranges from terrible to mediocre.
Quite possibly one of the most over-rated franchises ever.

err are you sure running out of time was the real reason they didn't film this...

She sees him turn and his face slowly comes toward the mosquito

stunned as Indy's mouth opens --

He starts hissing grotesquely, smoke billows out of his mouth and
the mosquito netting BURNS OPEN to expose his terrifying face
moving toward Willie --

She is forzen with fear and unable to utter a sound as Indy's
malevolent face looms at her -- and then she notices his eyes --
his eyes glowing a hellish luminscent yellow!
ok so he's a sith dragon, maybe it'll get better once he starts talki...

a comet in space -- exploding!
(holding his head)
Aaahh! -- the screams -- pitiful
people -- their pain -- the hate --
and greed -- always greed!
this is George Lucas unleashed.

The 3 Jones movies is more watchable today than the 3 Star Wars movies.
I'll take Short Round over ewoks every time!

I was today years old when I found out Temple of Doom is actually a prequel, not a sequel, to Raiders of the Lost Ark.

The raft down the mountain in Temple of Doom is Tarzan-Shia level terribleness.

But nothing is worse than the fridge.

By today's special effects standards, yea, it looks quite silly when you watch it now. But seeing the movie in the theatre for the first time when I was 10 years old, that raft scene blew my mind. I distinctly remember the entire theatre cheering and laughing during that entire sequence. It was fun.

The mine car chase is another sequence that seems pretty dated now, but was an absolute blast when I first saw it.

The fridge, the vine swinging, the ants...Crystal Skull was just a mess all around.

There was also something about older special effects that actually looked right on film in the theater but didn't convert well in the TV conversion process.

Raiders is a top 5 action movie of all time. Temple is a surprisingly good sequel that defies our expectations making it a dark scary Nazi-less prequel although parts haven't aged well. Crusade is a by the numbers sequel to Raiders that is entertaining but sort of hollow. As for Crystal Skull, I'll just leave this here:

Interestingly RLM points out one of the appeals of Indiana Jones is the good looking, ass kicking, world traveling, women romancing hero all young men want to be. This is lost in the 4th movie and won't be helping a 5th.
