Filmed in Okotoks. Well not the space stuff that was filmed in Space.
Between Nolan filming parts of his last 2 non-Batman movies here, Fargo's huge success, and Hell on Wheels, Alberta's film making scene has gotten a massive boost in the last few years. My aunt works in extras casting and worked on Inception, Interstellar, Fargo, and currently Hell on Wheels. Everyone she talks to from actors to directors to random staff the studios bring up from the US has nothing but good things to say about Calgary and the surrounding area. Billy Bob Thornton in particular seemed to really enjoy it here, as according to her he would always sit and chat with the local crews during lunch because quoting him "You're all just so darn friendly"
He was less enthused about the brutal winter we had last year when they were filming, but the Fargo directors loved it, said it was some of the least amount of environmental prep work they've ever had to do
I feel left out That trailer didn't really do a whole lot for me. I'm sure it will be a great movie though.
Pay no attention to the Nolan fan-boyism. It didn't do much for me either. Nolan is currently the most overrated director in holiday. In that respect, I guess he is the new Spielberg... Best thing that Interstellar has going for it is Matthew McConaughey. Let's just hope that Nolan doesn't screw up his hot streak.

His hot streak of....every movie he has ever made being at least really good?
I gotta say that trailer didn't hit me the way the first one does, but to say the best thing it has going for it is McConaughey is little much. Nothing wrong with him, but come on.

The third Batman is barely good. Nolan's editing and pacing are pretty bad in most movies but especially in that one. His decision not to correct Bane's voice was a poor decision...and Bale's voice as Batman is hilariously distracting...something a good director should have noticed and changed. Too bad Ledger died...if he was in the third one he would have made us forget how Nolan phoned the third one in.
I've read the script for Interstellar and it is beyond bizarre. Looking forward to seeing how it shows up on screen and mcconaughey's performance. Also, curious to see if Nolan's editing and pacing will be as distracting as it is in his past few movies.

I meant let's hope that Nolan doesn't screw up McConaughey's hot streak. I just find Nolan's movies to be bloated and illogical. Judging from the trailer, this film looks like it might be no different.

What do you mean by overrated? He hasn't made any stinkers, so his regard has been well-earned.

Well obviously it depends on who you ask, some people did not like Dark Knight Rises (while others often term much of his work "overrated"). But I would say a good majority (85-90%) like all of Nolan's work. Which is why I would agree the regard he receives is well-earned. Everyone is allowed to have their own opinions, but even the biggest Nolan critic should know that most people do respect his work. I would still rate almost all of his movies **** or higher (Insomnia being ***1/2).
I would tend to agree that Dark Knight is somewhat overpraised though in some communities. It's an excellent movie, and perhaps the best comic book movie to date, but I would not call it one of the best movies ever made like some do. I actually think I like Inception more than it, but in large part because Inception was based on an original concept.

Yep. I feel like the last of the Dark Knight movies was weak. But that's all of Nolan's movies that I would consider overrated, and that was an
exception to the norm. Inception, Dark Knight, and Memento were my favourites. I think Interstellar will be pretty good.
