Default Scoring on the farm

Looking at our farm system, I think the Heat will be hard pressed to score goals:

Chucko - Backlund - Greentree
Germyn - Armstrong - ?
Cunning - Carpentier - Watt
Grantham - ? -?

There's an obvious need for a scoring winger in that lineup.
How would the Flames feel about signing Jusso Puustinen?
Led all SM Liiga rookies in points and assists this year, second on his team in terms of points. Should the flames try to bring him back given the lack of prospects who can pu the puck in the net who are close?

Puustinen wanted 1st round type money, which is why Carpentier got the contract instead; he's not coming back

welcome to the ahl farm team of calgary.

Scoring wasn't plentful down here they have a defensive style not very much glitz and glimmer.

Defence will be very young, but very good with time

Pelech, Palin, Negrin, Aulie, Baldwin, Cole, maybe Jonsson or Deilert

Team being built just like the big squad

Scoring will be even more sparse if Greentree makes the jump.

Pretty much what I was getting at. The Flames don't have anybody who's going to provide any secondary scoring schould those guys get called up.
How do they adress this? I see 3 options:
  1. AHL vets: guys who can score in the AHL and belong there
  2. AHL/NHL tweeners: guys like Lundmark and Kolanos
  3. European and NCAA FAs / CHL overagers: guys like Wilson from last year. One guy I thought was pretty impressive was Saginaw`s captain Chris Chapell.

Flames didn't pay for Kolanos qc owners did.

But why would they need to bring in a ringer when the sophisticated fans in canada would just love to see hockey.

or its all about the prospects we dont need to kill the pipeline for the prospects and that is par for the corse being a nhl farm team.

We're not that sophisticated. Team's still need to win to be successful. Add to the fact that the Heat are basically just outside Vancouver by a few minutes and the whole area is Canucks country...they need quick success to build some loyalty/separation.

It's only par for the course for certain farm teams. I mean, Chicago always brings in ringers, and the Manitoba Moose which are Vancouver's farm team has older ringer players too.

Yes I am!

but chicago and the meese really only car about winning.

I bet that abbotsford keeps as many players as they can for the heavy travel sched.

I can see another .575 winning season in abbotsford this year. But thats not bad since they wont have ringers. Personally I got upset a couple of times last year but watching these guys suck at the beginning of the year to what they were at the end of the year was awesome. They were a team to be scared of at the end of the year if they only peaked a bit sooner they would of made some noise in the playoffs.

If they made the playoffs they would of matched up with milwaukee in the first round a team that qc dominated all year and would of played houston in the second another team qc owned now in the conferance finals they would of got the moose and they kicked our asses this year. If they could only made the playoffs they would of made some noise.
