How is your Avalanche on gas? Everyone I talked to who had one said they were atrocious.

Not great by any means but no worse than any other 5.3 Chev I've had from that era

Ooof. Not the best looking truck.

"The Silverado EV shares no parts with the regular Silverado, and Chevy swears any resemblance to the Avalanche is coincidental."

"The Silverado EV is about the same length and height as a regular crew-cab, short-bed Silverado, but the only thing the two trucks share is part of their names. The Silverado EV isn't even assembled in the same factory. Instead, it's built on a narrower version of the GMC Hummer EV's underpinnings."

I feel like they could have marketed it as an Avalanche EV, and the people who were going to buy it still would.

Haha this depends which engine you got. In 2007 you could spec the 8.1L in the Avalanche with 2500 underpinnings.

No surprise GM design is completely out to lunch in naming and design.

I like this! But then I absolutely love my avalanche. I use the midgate occasionally and even bought a tent for the box and camped in it this summer. It's my favorite truck but it unfortunately just doesn't have the towing capacity I need. If it could handle my car hauler I would keep it forever!

Edit; As for mileage mine isn't that good, a bit less than an average 5.3 1500, which was disappointing because I specifically bought a 2wd version. I chalk it up to the fact the previous owner installed 10 ply duratracs and they are really heavy tires with a lot of rolling resistance. It looks like a 4x4 and at the time the tires made sense for towing but in hindsight probbaly not the best fit.

That's the biggest annoyance about KIA and Hyundai's products in the EV space... where the hell are the AWD options?

Hyundai offers zero electric vehicles with AWD, though they do offer plug-in hybrids with AWD in the Santa Fe and Tuscon. But their pure electric vehicles, no such luck.

In KIA's lineup, much of the same. The Sorento HEV/PHEV is the only vehicle that is also AWD. No dice on the EV models, though it looks like they're changing that with the KIA EV6 later this year, offering RWD and AWD models like the Model 3.

The Ioniq 5 is also available with AWD. Or will be when it comes out I guess.

The EV6 look is growing on me.

I'm a big fan of the Telluride/Palisade.

The Grand Cherokee L looks interesting but I haven't actually seen one yet or checked it out.

That's gotta be a Telluride from Kia no?

Or the Pallisade from Hyundai?

Oh mini van too. The Kia Carnivale SX. I think that's the one. Has like Uber luxury 2nd row seating.

Can't think of many high end 7 seaters under 60k. Maybe the highlander? Pretty sure the likes of the Durangos and Tahoes/Yukons are well over 60k. Well a Durango properly equipped anyways.

Telluride or Palisade for sure. Palisade has the nicer interior. Telluride has the cooler exterior. I ordered a new Telluride in October for my wife. It was supposed to be here in December, but you know how that goes. I'm hoping to get it this month or next. They annihilate the competition (SUVs, anyway).

Nothing can beat a minivan for pure comfort and convenience for a gaggle of people, though.

Highlander is nice, but the third row is the ####s. Third row in the Telluride/Palisade is very comfortable even for adults. Exterior dimensions of the Highlander and Telluride are basically the same.

We're shopping for a vehicle with that rough description (nice 7 seater SUV under $60k) as well. I think we're pretty much decided on the Pallisade, although if we got a good price on a Honda Pilot we might go that direction.

I looked briefly at the GM options but the price/value compared to the imports seemed way out of line. The sloped roof on the Highlander means the 3rd row has very little headroom imo.

We looked at the VW Atlas and Kia Telluride and didn't like either for non-consequential reasons (my wife didn't like the steering wheel 'bumps' at 10 and 2 on the Kia nor the seats on the Atlas).
