I'm going tommorrow to Kid's Day in my shorts and a T-shirt. It's hot down on the grounds and I'm not wearing no long pants whether they are jeans or not. Nor some long sleeve shirt. I'll be wearing a hat but it's a baseball cap. But hey I'm with you if they can stand the heat then go ahead and dress up and enjoy yourself.

One of the best parts of Stampede is hot guys in plaid shirts. If guys get to ogle girls in short skirts, I want guys in plaid shirts. It's only fair!

Plenty of people in Calgary aren't really pretending to be rednecks!

Are you suggesting the thousands of people who do dress up and embrace the Stampede spirit have no, or diminished dignity?

Yes you are way too cool, because instead of going quietly about your business you have taken it upon yourself to be the fashion police!

I wish I was, but living in TO. Really miss Calgary this time of year, and love the Pede.

You are definitely in the "too cool" pile of people who don't know how to have a good time.

As a proud and lifelong Calgarian, naturally wearing my boots (as I do to mostly all Flames games, too) as well as one of the western shirts that I own.
Dignity firmly intact.

I just think people have a right to know when they look like tools. I'm the kind of person who will tell someone if they have a crumb on their face, or their fly is undone. They deserve to know.

I think the people who are feeling a little sore here are the people who just looked in the mirror and realised they look pretty goofy in their little get-up.

Now see, if you are someone who usually wears this stuff you are cool by me. I have a buddy who wears cowboy stuff all the time because he was raised on a farm, likes country music, etc. It's who he is. I just think when you wear that stuff to an office to be trendy or cool, you look pretty stupid.

Do you do the same thing to the kids that knock on your door on Halloween?

Any excuse to where my "More Cowbell" shirt with my leather chaps....

Seriously though, this is a fun time of year in Calgary and if your not into it, then please don't put a downer or try to guilt the rest of us for having a great time. I personally am not a 10 day cowboy but I put on the cheesy shirt when I'm off to the pub or bar and do my best to push and support the Stampede as much as i can.

There is a large number of very successful and prominent people in Calgary who would disagree with your assessment of dressing up. However if you think your Best Buy uniform provides you with more dignity than boots, buckles, jeans, and a shirt, that's your business.

The same could be said by a non-hockey fan about people who dress up for Flames games. Does me putting on a Flames jersey make me look like a tool; because you figure that I believe that I might get called into play by Sutter?

Sounds to me like you being a party pooper- you weren't invited to any of the fun things that the rest of us are doing, and now you are bitter.

Hahaha, got me there- putting myself through college is so undignified. I haven't worked there for over a year, however, when I did I still didn't wear the cowboy stuff.

Fair enough.

Haha, actually no... noone gets invited to work. You go there to facilitate the rest of your life. If I went to a cowboy themed party, that might be different. I was simply commentating on the way people dress at work.

In the words of Rome, you can microwave fish for lunch at home, but don't do it at work.

I wear jeans and a plaid shirt, but I wear in untucked, so it's more indie-rock style than stampede style. I never wore a cowboy hat or boots when I lived on a farm and worked with cattle, so it seems pretty silly to wear such clothes now.
