Sabres use cap space to get to the salary floor.

…and one less cheap goalie option for the grease.

Edit: was thinking of Holtby not Bishop. Dallas has too many goalies.

Taking on $5 million in cap space only nets you a 7th round pick? Dallas made out great.

Shows it is possible to get rid of Monny's anchor without having to attach something valuable

To hit the floor and the cash is paid by insurance.

Its literally just a compliance trade.

Was this factored into Dallas’ $14M in cap space reported elsewhere (Bishop on LTIR) or do they now have $19M?

But how does it get them to floor if his cap hit doesn't count against the cap?

Really? Then he'd fit right in on the Oilers.

He’s injured, but they don’t choose to put him on LTIR.

His salary is paid by insurance.

Not necessarily true, teams usually pick 4-5 players to insure and I doubt if Bishop is one of the guys Dallas picked.

LTIR doesn't kick in until you're actually over the cap limit.

BUF has 15 players signed and only 46.1M cap hit (including 5.7M from Hodgson buyout and Bishop).

15M is Skinner and Okposo. So 25M for the other 13 players.

I wonder if they try to do another 1 yr deal with someone like they did with Hall (and likely trade them at TDL). Not exactly sure who would fit that bill...$8M for MAF? Maybe Max Domi is a guy who needs to try to rebuild his value?

Thanks for the thorough explanation 🙄
Both injured players with a year left on their contract.
Bishop wont play again and Mony will but that makes no difference on the contract unload.
The only difference is Mony has some type of no trade list.
Youre very helpful tho.
