Adjustable Beds?
Looking for advice on adjustable beds.
I was leaning heavily toward getting a Ghost Bed but have seen many bad reviews and am now second guessing it.
There's a few more brands out there like Layla and Podium but I'm looking for real world advice/reviews.
Aiming toward a split king. Not sure if we should buy the base and mattress as a bundle or separately.
Wife is a hot sleeper for what that's worth, hence why we leaned toward the "cooling" ghost bed.
Anyone have any first hand experience/suggestions?

We bought a sleep science set from Costco about 5 years ago. It’s been great and still works and looks brand new.

We’ve got a split King from Podium. Went with Logan & Cove mattresses.
Game changer.
We were looking to replace our Stearns & Foster King and this was actually cheaper …and much preferred. Could never go back now.
I took out the slats from our bed frame and the Podium base just sits perfectly within.

If staying home sick from school and watching the Price is Right has taught me anything, it's that Craftmatic® Adjustable Beds are the only answer.

Are you asking about the platform or mattress or both? My understanding was that the platform is the adjustable part and you could basically pick and choose whatever mattress. It always seemed cool to me to be able to use a remote to play with the angles.
I have also always wondered about the concept of putting two twin XL mattresses side by side rather than a full on King mattresses. Podium paired with Douglas and in the videos there seems to be a situation with dual twin XL and a situation with a King.

Two twin XL is the only way to go. They are locked at the base so they don't separate.
You don't want to be subject to your partner's remote whims.

I imagine the adjustability makes for fun extracurriculars. Can you confirm or deny?

We have 2 twin XLs next to each other on adjustable bed frames (each move independently) - we really like it but there are some tradeoffs with it. I like that you can individually adjust your sleeping position up a bit for snoring/ back pain etc. very nice if you want to watch a movie or reading. Changing sheets etc is very easy.
the trade off is that The mattresses move side to side a bit especially if you have a pet or sleep more in the middle of the bed. you could have a big gap between the mattresses. It felt odd at first to not use the 'middle of the bed'
Don't think we could ever go back to 'normal' bed for our master bedroom again
for mattresses - sleeplikethedead.com was a really good resource

Like if a comedian said their new favourite position is 69 degrees?

It also has a ‘massage’ setting.

You can actually still use a King sheet. It keeps the mattresses nice and snug together. It just stretches when only one side is raised.

Ordered the Ghostbed adjustable split king from Costco. I've often mentioned how much gravity bothers me...relentlessly pulling me down. The zero G mode is going to be a game changer. Plus I do most of my TV watching from bed. Pressing a button to sit me up sounds perfect.

Any updates from folks who purchased? I’m having some issues with my back and think it’s time for a new mattress and I think it makes most sense to go adjustable. Also, I know there was another thread, but anyone have any luck getting coverage through their benefits?

It's fataing heaven. I love it so much. The massage function feels crazy good on my legs, too. Best purchase ever. My wife absolutely loves it, too. 10/10.

Forgot to come back and update this thread. The adjustable bed has been a game changer for me. I went from getting ready to schedule a doctor’s appointment because my back was causing me so many issues to being pain free almost immediately. Now, I’m sure any new mattress would have helped a great deal, but being able to sleep with my head raised up a bit has been awesome.
My 70 year old mom has been suffering from some acid reflux issues, so after hearing how much we loved ours she ended up getting one too. I had helped her put some 2 X 4s underneath her old mattress to help raise it up based on the advice of her doctor. Of course, this wasn’t a great solution. Now with her adjustable bed she’s had no acid reflux issues and can adjust as she needs.
The only negative for my wife and I is having the two split twin XLs is a little different than one king. I could see that being a deal breaker for some people and just going with the king, however it is really nice to be able to set it up for what works best for both of us.
All in all, 10/10, would buy again. Big shout out to Sliver for answering a few questions on his experience when he bought.
