Alexis played a great match, had multiple set points in set 2 to force a 3rd and deciding set, but lost 11-9 in the second set tie-break,

Just like the first match, Steven Diez played well, but Tallon Griekspoor wins it for the Netherlands 6-4 6-4 and the Dutch take a 2-0 lead into day 2. The Dutch doubles team is formidable, ergo it's looking quite daunting for Team Canada.

Even though I won't like this result, I still prefer this old style of Davis Cup with the home fans. I don't like the single-site year end tournament.
If best of 5s were the issue, make it 7 best of 3 matches. You have to play 3 singles guys.

I just wanted to re-quote this as Zverev just won his opening round match down in Rio as Germany is talking on Brazil this weekend in their Davis Cup tie. I guess the ITF didn't want to intervene on behalf of the ATP as far as additional discipline is concerned, but there's nothing preventing the German Davis Cup captain from letting someone else take Zverev's place. As usual though, winning takes priority over doing the right thing.
/Zverev is on the entry list for Indian Wells by the way thus if the ATP is looking to apply further discipline, they're certainly in no rush to come to a decision.

In addition to Leylah, Vasek is into the semi-finals of a challenger event in Torino, Italy while Rebecca Marino is into the semi-finals in both singles and doubles at an ITF event in California.
Lest we forget, day 2 of Davis Cup between Canada and Holland. Plenty of tennis action on Saturday.

Fernandez guts out a win in a fabulous match against Serrano. Tv coverage on Tennis Channel cut out with Leylah facing break at match point. She fought off 11/15 break points in the match before winning in the tiebreaker

Eldrick, do you know why there was such a length delay? I couldn't watch the match, but i was following the live set scores.

I was reading on Twitter that they were discussing whether or not to replay a point.

Yeah I was flipping out a bit there. Leyla saved about 4 breaks in that set and coverage cut out at first one. Then it took forever to update online and I knew I was missing something. Lol

Wish coverage had not cut out.
A lot of Twitter blubbering about how Leylah is somehow responsible for the lighting issue/replay point discussion /delay - which she came back from the delay fabulously and finished it.
Seems like there is a lot of crying in tennis

Wasn't without a bit of other controversy. This was in tie break in first set. Not sure how, on replay, many are still saying was not double bounce. Unless my eyes deceive me?
My embedding skills are failing me today...

Up 4-1 in the third set and with multiple match points prior to the lights issue for Leylah's opponent. Agreed, tennis fans can be very whiny.
