I sure hope Rittich bounces back as we are getting close to that point in the schedule where he started faltering last season.

Wasn’t it confirmed he battled an injury through the second half last year?

He looked really despondent on the bench last game. He takes poor performances very seriously, almost too seriously I think. I worry this is why he has bad stretches during a season. He starts to question his game instead of brushing it off and worrying about the next game.

This was Kipper's greatest strength. Ice water in his veins. Never got too high, but especially never got too low. He had poor games in his career, but he rarely had a long stretch of poor play.

Here's hoping Ritter has learned how to do this.

^Did you not notice that Brodie is out?

That's not good. He's been very good since coming back from his health scare.

Sorry, was stuck on Bennett & Rinaldo in, Jankowski out.

Still, not as concerned with Brodie's absence. Stone will see minimal time I assume. Kylington has been good and Andersson sees the ice more. Nothing wrong with that.

This is huge for Bennett, he really needs to take advantage of the players he is playing with tonight.

No more excuses, play hard and play smart.

What is sad is that for years now we have needed him to reach his potential to truly steamroll teams. He could be such a key player to this team with the talent he has and the mix of skill and snarl.

Starting to lose hope, still an NHLer just not what we had hoped for.

Rinaldo should not be sitting as much as he has.

Its NYE, they have a decent record on this night do they not?

GFG
8-2 in their last ten NYE games, and three straight wins.

Competition between your goalies is never bad. It doesn't mean that Rittich is going to lose his job. It just keeps him from getting too comfortable and keeps him sharp.

This x 100, it is so frustrating that coaches seem to stick with various lines and give them time to blend but Bennett seems to get a few shifts or a period and then dropped down the line up. If this happens all the time how is he supposed to get comfortable playing without looking over his shulder all of the time, no player plays well in that situation. Give him time (some will argue he has had enough time, personally I disagree), give him a full game or a few games for goodness sake, the kid is still young.

Not surprised to see Dube take a seat as well.

Best way to manage depth is to keep guys coming in and out of the lineup, and Dube hasn't been stellar in his last couple of games (his line in general had a rough night against Vancouver).

Interesting opportunity for Bennett given the discussion of the past few days. Hope he stays out of the box and just plays a solid, physical up and down shift. He could be a fit if he's digging pucks out for Monahan and Backlund.
