Kylington is out because he has been making rookie mistakes for the last few games (which will happen with young guys), but he took a really stupid penalty last game which coaches won't put up with if you are already on a short leash and being protected somewhat. Ward can't afford to let him learn "on the job" at this point. Team needs wins.
He needs more development time IMO, the NHL is too big for him right now. Looks to me he is thinking too much instead of reacting and just letting the game come to him.

I am fine with Stone but I really like the Hanifin/Andersson pairing. They are pretty dynamic together. I would rather see Gio-TJ, Rasmus-Hanifin and Stone-Hamonic. I hope they just win!

This is a great take. Somethings not there with his game and it’s certainly not his natural abilities. I was unsure about him, but after watching his skills along side NHLers the past 2 years, I think he’s going to be a monster player once he’s ~25.

Flames need to focus on having a good start snd figuring out how to score on Jack Campbell. If they need 20 saves from Rittich to come out of the first down 2-0 to the Kings again, I will be a sad person. Flames need to forget Doughty and just focus on what they do.

I'm a huge Kylington fan and I think he has a ton of potential, easily the most of any of the "Big 4" young guys on defense IMO. But right now, Stone is playing pretty well. I've been impressed whenever he's been in the lineup. And Kylington had a couple of clear missteps against the Sabres.
I have no issue with Stone slotting in. It's great to have them both.

Easily the most? I think you could make a case for each one but to say Kylington has easily the most potential is a tough sell, especially considering hes #4 on that depth chart right now.

Calgary media and TSN Franklin normally through softballs to everyone, and fans get standard canned responses.
We'll be interested to see media actually be hard on certain guys. So hope that quote is on the media 'locker room' too.
Doughty definitely is playing up a story / role to get quotes out there more than the vanilla responses we so often get from players.

They all have high potential but I don't think I'm the first person to suggest comparisons in playing style between Kylington and Erik Karlsson. It's unlikely, but Kylington is already very, very impressive for being such a young defenseman. He just needs to refine his skills and he'll be a top-4 mainstay at the very least, in my eyes.
And while they aren't necessarily his fault, I don't think Valimaki's injuries have done his placement on the depth chart any favours. Kylington is already at over triple Valimaki's games played and I think he's clearly usurped him as the #6 when everyone is healthy.

That does not mean they won't need him to make 20 saves to get out of the first period down 2-0.
Rittich isn't starting...does not automatically mean he will not play. Hopefully he gets the night off because Talbot and the team both play awesome.

Interesting. If Talbot is playing tonight, wonder if he gets the game against the Avs too on Monday because of a back to back. Or, will Rittich play both games on the back to back because of the Avs and Coyotes playing really well?
Guess we'll see how Talbot does tonight.

Those pairings don't make much sense to me as Stone and Hamonic are both righties and neither has shown an ability to play their off side at all. If you want Hanifin-Andersson to together (which I do like) then these are the pairings that make the most sense IMO.
Gio-Hamonic
Hanifin-Andersson
Brodie-Stone
Puts a leftie-rightie on every pair.

I don't think a Flames goalie has played back-to-back nights since Mike Smith's first season. Unless Talbot plays absolutely awful tonight I expect he will get one of the road games as well.
