I agree. Although I also thought that Brodie and Hamonic looked better the other night together than they have since Haminic returned from injury.

I am happy to see Bennett back with Jankowski and Jagr.

I'm at that point now where I wonder if giving Sam a chance to watch the game from the press box would do him some good. Get him away from it a little.

The Stars with the 2nd best PP against the Flames league worst PK, is not a matchup I like.

Personally, I'd drop the ice time for both Brodie and Hamonic to essentially make them the third pairing ,until they play themselves out of it.

That's not how Gulutzan operates though and it's fine with me, but I don't think putting Brodie back with Stone will fix Brodie's issues right now.
He has to play himself out of them.

I will acknowledge that “impact on a franchise” plays a huge role in these things too. Since I was a huge Avs fan during those years, I hated Dallas big time. I’m probably underestimating the effect he had on the franchise, to be fair. Some guys, when they retire, you know their jersey is going to hang in at least one arena, but Lehtinen wasn’t one of those guys for me.
You don’t think Kopitar or Berger get their numbers retired? I’m pretty sure they do. So why not Lehtinen. Juri Lehtonen was integral for their ‘99 cup run and was their most dependable defensive forward for the better part of a decade.

Makes sense to me.

I think that depends on what you see tonight.

He was given a message during last game when he was dropped to the 4th line. He knows the next step is the pressbox. I'm hoping you see a more focused and determined Bennett. I think there are a couple things in his game (like lazy backchecking or being out of position and reaching with his stick) that the coaches have been harping on him for over the course of this year, and when they see him do those same things, they're punishing him.

If Sam has a poor game tonight, then yeah, maybe you give him a night off.

Ive been clamouring for this for at least 3 weeks.

Give him a mental break. Its not a punishment, just a small break to reset.

Breaking down the deadly Dallas PP (and how to potentially stop it)

TLDR:

The Flames:
  • Must protect the net properly (2 dmen low when you see Klingberg look for the shot).
  • PK Forwards should be worrying more about Seguin/Radulov rather than look to block a shot from Klingberg (who loves to fake big slappers).
  • FFS, just let Smith see the puck. Please?

Spoiler!

I'd say the last two games have been Hamonic's best. I also thought that, after his miscue with the stick in the netting against Washington, Brodie was fine right up until the horrific mistake in OT last game.

I agree in once with the one exception that road win against the Canucks early in the season was the best game I saw him play ever. Didn’t watch much of the islanders though so really small sample size.

Flames invested a lot into acquiring Hamonic I think the really need to give that pairing a little more time before bumping Travis down to the third pairing.

Heads up for all of you in the Flames region, the Flames-Stars game which is on Sportsnet Flames for its entirety will be joined in progress on Sportsnet West once the Oilers game is over.

That's for SportsNet West. Looks like SportsNet Flames will have the game in its entirety.

@SNstats
#Flames Johnny Gaudreau & Sean Monahan have combined on an NHL-high 51 goals since the start of last season.

Imagine what it would be if Johnny played with an actual 1C

I have a feeling Stars receive a worse beat down than the one classic sniper is taking in the statistically proven worst bottom 6 thread.
