Icon48 March 21 - 13 Games!

It's a big game day on the out of town scoreboard. Interesting to note that most of the "big games" for the western conference playoff race will be finished before dinner time with only the Jets game going from 5pm onward.

Here are the big games:

12pm MT - St. Louis Blues (45-20-6) vs. (39-25-7) Minnesota Wild
MIN regulation win: Flames odds drop -1.0%; MIN regulation loss: Flames odds increase 1.2%
2pm MT - Vancouver Canucks (40-26-4) vs. (34-22-14) Los Angeles Kings
VAN regulation win: Flames odds increase +2.1%; VAN regulation loss: Flames odds drop -0.8%
5pm MT - Washington Capitals (39-23-10) vs. (36-23-12) Winnipeg Jets
WPG regulation win: Flames odds drop -1.9%; WPG regulation loss: Flames odds improve +2.3%

Of course, if Calgary wins, the odds go up +4.7%. If Calgary loses in regulation, the odds drop 12.5%

Kind of torn who I want to win out of LA and Van. I'm almost thinking it would be better forVancouver to win. I don't want the 2nd last game of the season against LA to be a must win.

To help with the decision-making, here are the playoff odds effects from that game:

Vancouver win/LA loss:

LA win/Vancouver loss:

I still find these "Stats" pretty pointless when a 1 point swing actually has us out of the playoffs.

Calgary with a 78.2% chance, but only a 50% chance of that.

Fully agree. If LA loses they are close to 50% of making playoffs? No way a Sutter coached team, that has been in this position before, only has a 50% chance of making playoffs.

I'm cheering for LA. Just seems better to pull Vancouver down and they're primed for a fall I think.

Pavelec in net for Jets today. He has a terrible record vs the Capitals.

Didn't realize Winnipeg has only 36 wins. Would be nice to see Washington apply the dagger today.

Vancouver is not as good a team as their record has shown all year, but they do play the top teams well so who knows. Hopefully the Kings take care of business though.

Expecting zero favours from St. Louis tonight. That team (and Anaheim) are useless when it comes to helping out on the OOT.

Would you want to play L.A or Vancouver in the playoffs? If we win tonight and Vancouver does, we can be 3 & 4 points ahead of L.A

Play Van for sure.

I hope the Oilers win too so they stay out of the bottom 1 & 2 draft position.

An LA loss coupled with the fact they will start their eastern road trip after this game makes me really not know which way to go. Saying that, LA has been absolutely schooling VAN lately so I don't even know if it is worth fretting over. At this point I just want the flames to win and I will look at the standing in the morning.

Yeah, I see that Minnesota's "tough" schedule is getting the best of them again.

Freaking Blues, man. Roll over for everyone else in the race and then play the Flames like world beaters. Frack off.
