He'll get a crack at the big club, but no one should lose any sleep if he spends time in the AHL.

Will be awesome to see him signed.

Burke has gone out of his way to communicate with Gaudreau and tell him there's room on this team for him. He see's the value in smaller players with immense skill, but preaches that they need to be surrounded by truculent players.

He will likely go to the AHL regardless of what Burke thinks as there will only be a few NHL games remaining when Gaudreau is complete his NCAA playoff run. The best thing for him is to thrive in a winning environment with the Heat and help them with hopefully a long playoff run.

Also I wouldn't call this news/rumour as it's just one mans opinion. It's the same opinion that most people who follow Gaudreau have. He's too good for the NCAA and his development will be halted a year if he chooses to go back at this point. If he goes back for his final year than there's basically 0% chance he will sign with the Flames as the only conceivable reason would be to pull a Justin Shultz.
I really need to start using green text..........but it's so much more fun when I don't.

I know, my point was that he sent Sven down, then he called Johnny tiny..........why would Johnny sign after all those things happened, it's just crazy to think that could happen

Works for Flyers media. Gaudreau family is from south Jersey (Philly market) so Morganti definitely has an inside perspective on them.

He is also from the Boston area, so I suspect he has contacts up there, that might also have a feel for what Gaudreau is thinking/feeling.

I meant the whole "will he sign or not" thing. Maybe I used the wrong terminology. It's just weird that the fact a drafted prospect signing with his own team is a "rumor" like it's not a for sure thing. I didn't think it was ever in question.

Not trying to call you out specifically, but can we please let this joke die. It is so played out.

Great News if in fact true. We could use a shot in the arm with some added excitement with the on ice product.

I think that it is just the uninformed people who are still questioning if he will sign with Calgary or not, look at the post fotze posted.. we have it on a good source that he is planning to be a Flame.

But you can still question if he will stay for a senior year or not, which he has ever right to do. I think this post is more saying that this will be his last year in college and we can expect him to skip his final year of eligible college hockey. Not if he wants to be a Flame, but if he wants to be a Flame this year or next year.

Good for us to clear up that confusion for this thread moving forward.

Early speculation fueled by some investigation was that it is Johnny's sister.

Will he be able to play the last few games of the season with the Flames? If we can give him a cup of tea that would be a great experience for him.

If he signs with Calgary at the end of his college career, he'll get a look see with the big club so that they can see where he's at heading into next years camp.

I'm convinced that if he signs we can all go out and buy Johnny Hockey jerseys because we'll see him in Calgary for however many games happen between the end of BC's season and Calgary's

If BC makes the Frozen Four (which is the NCAA divsion I semifinals and finals) then he most likely won't be able to get any NHL games in as the tournament finishes April 12.

The Flames do play an April 13th game, but doubtful he makes that game, especially if he is celebrating a National Championship and/or the Hobey Baker (which gets announced on the 12th).

He'll get 9 games, get sent down and told to add weight. It will be a waste of a prospect to put a guy that small in the NHL full season, he'll get hurt for sure.
