Reading the_only_turek_fan posts are a scary look into the average ignorant conservative voter in this province.

Do better.
I’m not here for a reading test Pepsi, I just want my cheques because clearly I’ve been missing out.

All because you thought you might save a buck in taxes?

Excuse me if I find the crying about a double standard a bit toothless when you're criticizing someone who voted for guy with "wore blackface" on his record while you happily voted for guy with "actively used political power to make life worse for LGBTQ people" on theirs.

Go back to complaining about how much they ask for in property tax from your 6 figure salary for your 7 figure home some more. At least it's entertaining.

Anderson and his group tout the Alberta Sovereignty Act, a plan for Alberta to systematically refuse to uphold or enforce any federal policy or act it believes impedes the province's interests, jurisdictionally or otherwise.
Quote:
But Danielle Smith had come to cheer. The former Wildrose Party leader (who, alongside Anderson in 2014, crossed the floor to Jim Prentice's Tories) is not only a fan of this Sovereignty Act — she's already declared it her day-one priority. Smith believes Alberta could use this tool to shield Alberta from everything from the Emergencies Act to vaccine rules to internet content regulation.

"It's our job to make sure that we're taking care of business and taking care of our people," she told the forum. She added, in apparent reference to the legal quagmire the bill is designed to provoke, "I'm kind of somebody who believes in asking for forgiveness rather than permission."

These people have totally lost the plot. Fringe nonsense that does nothing for Albertans, just stupid trash to antagonize the rest of the country. I hope the NDP win, and Smith has a hissy fit and moves to the US where she can be "free" and we never have to hear from her stupid face ever again.

'Shame on those responsible': Float in Sundre, Alta. rodeo parade called out as racist

https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/calga...502224?cmp=rss

Perhaps this should be in the Federal Politics thread? I put it in here because it's from Alberta.

As soon as I saw the pic I immediately saw it as a political commentary.
A bit off Color…but not racist.

Leave it up to politicians and special interest groups to manufacture outrage when there isn’t any.

The racist part you can question.. but how is it apolitical?

Can we also agree even if you don't think its racist, its a terrible parade float?

For sure a terrible float...according to the news it wasn't an official float...just snuck in along the way somewhere.

It was racist when Trudeau did it 30 years ago but it’s not racist when a guy in Sundre does it over the weekend in 2022, apparently. Hell, even members of the UCP weren’t afraid to call it racist, but they’re known for being overly sensitive I’m sure.

The organiser of the float is your basic deplorable. Posts every hateful, ignorant view you can imagine on social media.

I'm surprised none of the news articles have named these racists. Can't be too hard to figure out who they are.

If you check the responses to the twitter feed, some of the individuals are identified. Not sure if it really adds any value to naming them in the media (besides increasing the polarization of opinion)
