It will be interesting to see if he has what it takes as I feel that team was mired in such a rut that any new voice in that locker room would have been a blessing and there was probably an initial boost just having Martin St-Louis in the locker room. I'm still not convinced he's head coach material but I can't argue that he did a pretty good job interim.

Was a weird hiring but it kind of worked? At least Caufield woke up. Still a lot of transitioning to come for the Habs. Price might be done, Wright likely coming into the fold, etc. Not going to be easy for St. Louis.

They had a new coach bump but then regressed to being a pretty terrible team again by the end of the year. I'm not sold on him as a head coach, but I guess it pays to be a francophone.

Yeah, he ended up 14-19-4, including a 9 game losing streak prior to winning the last two garbage games. Considering his kind of decent start (7-4), not very good.

In that market, this was almost inevitable. I'd argue that being a francophone is more important than having a ton of NHL coaching experience.
