The last two seasons have been some frustrating, and, at times, super boring hockey. I'm looking forward to some more free-wheeling, skilled hockey that keeps me glued to the TV till the final buzzer. A powerplay that can skate and move the puck and generate shots and one-timers will go a long way there.

Defensemen like Giordano, Brodie, Hanifin, and Valimaki jumping into the cycle or rush for a true 5 man attack offensively instead of
Spoiler!
GG Hockey

Oh, and a reduction of penalties leading us to get back to the positive penalty differentials we enjoyed before GG.

Drop the puck .....let's do this . I really see this team doing really well together.

Tkachuk said it best early before pre season games were played.....no individuals on this team and they need to dial it in and start winning.

I liked hearing this from him of all players . This kid since day one competes and wants to win and draws his teammates in and gets them engaged with the idea of not just competing but yearning to be better every shift , period and game.

I see career highs from several players and noteable awards and recognition for others .

Go Flames Go.

Seeing what our top line can do with a legitimate top line talent on RW.

I'm pretty excited about our improved forward depth and the increase in speed and skill. On paper this looks like a team that can come at you in waves, which should be fun to watch.

I'm also excited to see how deadly our PP can be. It was hit and miss during the preseason, but it did look much better than Cameron's abomination from last year. There's lots of potential there for the PP to finally be a difference maker for us.

Goaltending still worries me a bit, but I have faith in Smith. Dude is a fiery competitor and I anticipate he'll be focused and ready to go for tomorrow.

Hopefully a powerplay that doesn't make me want to stick a belt sander to my eyes.

Default What are you most excited about?

1. Mark Giordano. With Hamilton out, Giordano steps in as the trigger man - and I think he’ll score a good chunk more than 17 goals.

2. Sam Bennett and Mark Jankowski. Being buried away as the “4th line” and possibly our 2nd PK unit - I think these two are going to win us games. Having Czarnik lining up with them gives them some offensive pop to help finish all those scoring chances they generated last year that fell flat thanks to lesser linemates.

3. Juuso Valimaki and Noah Hanifin. Something lost in all the chatter about Dougie Hamilton leaving is the fact that our blue line got younger. Hanifin and Valimaki are young, mobile, and built for the modern NHL. I’m excited to see the impact they make. They’re two potential game changers.

Also, I'm excited that this thread has zero chance to turn into a Bennett thread.

Excited to see our new team. I was so pissed about last year and Treliving made changes I was hoping. Coach, Hamilton, and added a premier free agent.

Honorable mention to the rookies. Every year since the rebuild we have had a rookie that we could be excited about and this year we have 2.

13/14- Monahan
14/15- Gaudreau
15/16- Bennett
16/17- Tkachuk
17/18- Jankowski
18/19- Dube/Valimaki

Healthy Monahan with a bonafide top sixer on his right wing. Should be a good year for him.
