In a swap of backup goaltenders, Martin Jones finds himself on the way to the New York Rangers, along with prospect Joni Ikonen. In return Jake Allen heads to LA, with prospect Jack Dugan. Both players have been pretty underwhelming for their prospective clubs, and it's speculated that this could be due entirely to the tidal forces of competing oceans in each respective home city. Big things are expected.

Buffalo sends Tyson Barrie to CBJ for Tyler Myers.
Personally, I enjoyed having Barrie on the team but we badly needed someone better in the defensive zone.

In an effort to put someone between the pipes that is legitimately better than one of those pipes, the Leafs unloaded Sergei Bobrovsky, Jack Campbell and Phil Kessel to the Columbus Blue Jackets in exchange for Braden Holtby and Jordan Eberle.
In Holtby the Leafs acquire a goalie who fits the No. 1 criteria of not being Sergei Bobrovsky, who has not been able to turn his game around since joining the Leafs at the end of October.
Bobrovsky and Kessel were also divisive figures in the locker room, what with their penchant for horseplay, gossiping, black market tennis racquet sales, and frequent naps. Jack Campbell, meanwhile, is a fine upstanding citizen who shall be missed greatly, but saw his backup role usurped by the cheaper Anders Nilsson during the Leafs once highly-successful off-season.
The Leafs were also thrilled to add Eberle, who scored that sick goal against Calgary that time, and man, that last-second goal against Russia in the juniors? Crazy.
The Leafs thank the Blue Jackets organization for negotiations that were quick and easy - just the way sycophants like Bobrovsky and Kessel like 'em.

The black market tennis racquet ring went far beyond the Leafs initial beliefs, and the organization acted swiftly to remove Andreas Johnsson, Nikita Gusev and Brendan Dillon from the premises.
We did our due diligence in assuring Marcus Foligno and Patrick Nemeth were against illegal shenanigans involving all racquet sports, not just tennis. Nino Niederreiter, meanwhile, hates everything, due to a longstanding hatred of his own name.
The Leafs feel the morale of the locker room is looking up after moving beyond this dark period in our club's history.

St Louis trades Blake Wheeler and 4.5 mil in cap to Colorado for Phillip Danault
Reasons. St Louis gets a younger Center that still has a 73 rating, but is an 83 defensively.
I was hesitating on if I was going to resign Blake in the offseason, but this makes it easier. Though when Larkin and Stephenson comes back I'm going to be overloaded at center.
This was a back and forth negotiation that went back and forth before settling on a one to one deal.
