I just checked out episode 1 and I gotta say, I tend to agree with the guys in that Hamonic is the better fit for the organization, so long as the contract is right, to retain out of the 2 guys in question.
I think he has more to offer in being RHed, gritty, hard hitting, can handle the tough PK mins..
Brodie, as much as I’ve loved him over the years, has run his course here in Calgary. He is what he is and that is a dependable top 4 dman. But I, unlike most everyone here, cannot forget his performance the last couple seasons prior to this one, really his performance for years prior to his incident in practice (thank all that is holy he was alright).
Brodie really fell off a cliff and in all honesty I could even forget that but when I consider all the other factors, being a 30 yo LS dman who will want term and $, I just don’t think it makes sense.
Gio
Hanifin
Valimaki
Kylington
Lerby
Mackey
Poolman
Above is the list of LS dman who are either signed or RFA within the organization, and I get that Brodie is more comfortable on the right side but I just don’t see the sense in re-signing an aging UFA LS dman who has struggled more than he has not over the last few years when we have a plethora of promising LS dmen already here, most of which are already good enough for top 6 minutes.
The emergence of Andersson and the expectations for Hanifin and Valimaki help push this opinion even further.
Other than that I tend to agree on most topics covered, it’s disappointing to hear they both think Johnny will not return but that is what it is, we will just have to see what happens.
Thanks for the content Scorp, episode 1 was a hit and I’m hoping to check more out in the coming days..episode 3 sounds like a winner as well!
Cheers and good luck with this new venture of yours, I’ll be listening.
