Lazar's time with the organisation is coming to an end. With Hathaway bringing more size and sandpaper (and just as much offence), he makes a better 12/13 forward. With Dube and Mangiapane knocking on the door we need to clear up two roster spots in the next two seasons. Difficult to think of a reason for him to stick around.

What's crazy is with Shinkaurak, Lazar, Poirier, Rychel and Klimchuk the flames almost have the full collection of 2013 first round busts.

They will keep 14 forwards though, so i suspect both Hathaway and Lazar start the season in Calgary and watch a lot from the press box.

They'll both watch Dube play on the 4th line.

Kylington is definitely progressing - the Brodie comparisons are apt. Andersson is very close. Valimaki is solid, but needs a year in the A.

This team’s forward depth is going to be really helpful. We’ll get contributions up and down the lineup, which is a stark contrast from last year.

Thought Rittich was looking quite good. He’ll be the backup for sure, and that is totally fine.

The thing about Rittich that I like is that yeah, he can let in a bad goal or have a bad game, but he is mentally strong enough to bounce back.

I am not comparing him directly to Kipper as he was a proven elite starter for a reasonable duration, but he was the same in the way that he would have a bad game occasionally but could overcome it. I am glad that after the earlier pre-season stinker, the coaches gave him the opportunity to redeem himself. Goaltending is a large part mental.

Hathaway and Lazar don’t deserve to make this team over Dube.

Where is Neal or Lindholm going to play if Czar has great chemistry with the 2nd line.It is still very early but a good problem to have if he is that good

Lazar was very slow on the ice this evening. I expect more from him at this stage in his career.

Dude looked good tonight, definitely a little more hesitant and thoughtful playing with the A group.

Gaudreau- Monahan - Lindholm (18-20 minutes)
Tkachuk - Backlund - Czarnik (15-17 minutes)
Bennett - Ryan - Neal (12-14 minutes)
Frolik - Jankowski - Dube (10-12 minutes)

?

I'd switch Ryan and Jankowski. Him and Bennet looked great with Jagr on their line. If Neal can help them take that next step, that could be a really mean line.

We're going to lose one of Andersson/Kylington to Seattle. It's our penance for Vegas taking Engelland.

I'd like to see this:
Brodano
Hamanafn
Vasanderson

I see where you're going with this but imo there's no way Neal gets third line minutes.

Yeah, very true. Trying to figure out how to arrange our seemingly super deep lines is a nice problem to have.

Really feels like we're going to have 4 exciting lines consistently.

Whereas last year it felt like we had at best 2 decent lines at any point.

Actually Lazar sucks and has since he got here and even before that, enough of the "good guy" with "great attitude and smile", I'm tired of watching him skate hard and bumble every scoring chance he gets. it's time to replace him with NHL type talent that can bury a chance once in a while.

Waive him and hope some dummy claims him.

You swapped out Bennett for Hathaway. I think even Bennett’s biggest critics would agree that’s ridiculous and hardly a fix.

I have always wanted Lazar to step up, however I just dont see it anymore. Its a shame we gave up a second rounder for him.
