It appears God isn't quite the healer after all. Hate to see someone lose their life like that but carrying around a deadly snake is asking for trouble.

When I lived in Texas, me and my classmates took some time to go and visit some of the more extreme religious offerings down there. If you live in Irving Texas for example there's a huge stretch of these massive evangelical churches with a lot of them having their own television channels or shows.

We attended a service with the Rev Ernest Angley and his full beat down version of faith healing where he would basically beat the devil out of you.

We went to see really radical baptist services, and evangelical services where it was more like an infomercial to raise money.

We went to a small country church just outside that did use Snakes, and the whole sermon was fire and brim stone and this snake represents the Deavil (That's how it sounded maaan) and the devil can bite me all day and the lord protects me from his influence and poison.

I expect that the snake was de-venomed but this guy let the snake bite the crap out of him.

We even went to a tent revival that was almost exactly like the Steve Martin movie Leap of Faith, and you could see the cons happening.

The church is inspired by the biblical verse Mark 16:18: ‘They will pick up serpents, and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not hurt them.'
Quote:
Cody’s father Jamie Coots’ was killed in 2014, 60-year-old David Brock died after being bitten at a Pentecostal Church in Kentucky in 2015, and 44-year-old pastor Mack Randall Wolford died after being bitten by a timber rattlesnake during an outdoor religious service in West Virginia in 2012. Incredibly, Mack Randall Wolford’s father – who was also a snake handling pastor – also died from a snake bite almost 30 years earlier.
I mean, at what point do you realize that the bible verse is perhaps flawed??

Bite him right in the face too, the video delivers. It kind of is a miracle he didn't die.

Good on the snake....the way they're throwing that snake around is repulsive. Yeah, its going to bite you because you're treating it like a toy.

I understand there are relatively few fatalities compared to number of snake bites. (A few thousand snake bites per year and a handful, like single digits, of fatalities from rattlesnake bites)

I think the article said the snake came close to the jugular or something.

Either way, this whole snake wielding pastor thing is nuts.

I went to a healing tent on the side of the highway in Arizona once and for the grand, tongue speaking finale, a fridge out back fell on some poor guy. Two guys carried him in just like they carried the pastor in the video, arms draped around shoulders, body limp and Christ like. Except this guy had broken ribs which would have hurt like crazy with your arms up like that. But they fixed him up right there on stage. Good as new. Almost like there was no fridge out back...on the side of the highway....in the middle of a desert. As the KFC bucket passed my way I thought, well, at least they weren't mean to snakes. Here's a dollar.

I've been going to church for over 40 years. I know that not one pastor I have met was ever stupid enough to "test God" by flinging around a poisonous snake. This pastor is a moron. He was given a valuable lesson. I wonder if he even learned anything from it.

Aaaaand, this complete and utter nonsense is what I was raised in (dad was a Pentecostal minister). Such clap trap. My mother used to get "the HOOOOOOOLY SPIIIIRIT on her" during grace at supper. Such an utter load of bollocks and let me tell you how difficult it was to not say "oh give me a big fat effing break lady" - pretty much the only thing that stopped me/us was knowing my dad would beat the ever lovin' crap out of me/my siblings if we said anything.

There's 4 of us kids. Not a single one of us are believers/go to church. Gee, can't imagine why.

I believe in God and no pastor I’ve ever known has been stupid enough to try that stunt. God gave us a brain; use it.
