Same. I hated the Arcologies, I want my cities to look as realistic as possible.

I'm kinda excited for this game. I loved the classic Sim City. Used the cheat to get the maximum funds possible, then I cheated the cheat proof by saving as soon as I maxed the funds. As soon as the disaster happened, I would reload the game and I would be disaster free.

I didn't get much chance to play the 2nd or 3rd as I did the classic, but I did play them. Same with Sim City 4, but I played that one more than the 2nd and 34d. I liked Sim City 4, but I agree in that it was a bit more complicated than I wanted. I didn't even bother with whatever this last release was, but I'm looking forward to the next one.

You mean Sim City Societies? Ugh.. absolutely terrible game. It was like a dumbed down version of SimCity classic...classic damnit!

Nice, I may have to pick that up. Haven't played a Sim City since the PS1 days.

No song will ever remind me of 4am as much as this one:

yea classic game
I remember being so excited to get a chance to play 2000 on the school computers. I was hooked. played sc3k then 4k. loved being able to connect cities and build a region, but the bigger cities slowed my computer way down, way to complex. it began to be just managing strikes and growth of demographics in certain areas, not so much city building. I think I got one city over 700k people. stopped playing it after awhile. excited to see how this version is, hopefully less complex as others have mentioned

Sim City peaked at 2000, and has steadily gone downhill since. Hopefully this one bucks the trend.

I wish they'd make a new version of Sim Tower. I loved playing that when I was a kid.

I used to play a lot of Sim Theme Park...honestly forget why though. It was a very easy game and you couldn't wreak havok like in Zoo Tycoon's expansions (and unleash dinosaurs to eat all your patrons by terrain blocking the exit)

I'm surprised SimEarth hasn't been revisited with all the attention climate change has received in recent years. That was an interesting game too.

I actually loved how much more in depth SC 4 was. The only problem was my computer too was totally murdered by any good sized city. I hope they at least keep the option to make it complex, I'll probably end up buying a new laptop just to run this.

Same here. I love a complex game. The modding community for SC4 is still going very strong and it now almost a completely different game.

I tried SimEarth but I was just disappointed in it.

I have a Mac laptop, but I'd buy a new PC or laptop just for this game when it comes out. Or just for the Mac if it was an option. I loved Sim City, and occasionally whip out the iPhone version.

Now if only they'd make a new Roller Coaster Tycoon...

If you'd cut open my head in the mid-90s, you'd seen a shoebox-like jumble of images like this (and Elle MacPherson)

Nothing more satisfying than peeling back the top layers and seeing a glorious system of water pipes coursing through the city.

That's cool and imma let you finish, but SimCity 3000 had the best soundtrack of all time...ALL TIME.

Skip to the 2:30 mark on this one:
