Default A Note to the Athletes

A note to the athletes of the 2018 Pyeonchang Winter Olympic Games. It does not matter what your personal expectations of these games were, in my eyes you have succeeded.

Cherish your experiences and embrace your accomplishments because we will forever be celebrating your achievements.

Your sacrifice and dedication to sport will be the inspiration for this generation to become the inspiration for the next generation.

Come home and tell your stories. Accept our gratitude and continue to excel as the best in the world.

You are the leaders

You are the echelon.

You are Olympians.

Congratulations.

Well said.

Lost in the satisfaction of winning and competing, is that all these ladies and men have been training and working for years and years and years just to get a chance to go out and show their stuff.

It's great to win medals and all, but I find all of the stories behind getting there, much more inspiring.

Greatest single Olympics as far as medals go....well done, and a huge thanks from this proud Canadian.

And a note to the fans of Canadian athletes:

The best way to say thank you is to remember that they don't only compete every 4 years.
Show your support by attending events, buying a ticket, taking your family, donating time and/or money to them and their federations, and continuing to cheer their Non-Olympic results.

With the exception of the athletes in the X-Games/Dew Tour, I have seen every single 2018 Canadian Olympic medallist compete in or around the Calgary area within the past year.
And they are competing with the exact same opposing athletes from other nations at World Cups and World Championships.

They don't go into hibernation until 2022.

Go buy a ticket next year.

I am often so disappointed with the crowds (sometimes in the dozens) in Calgary during non-Olympic years especially when people keep saying how proud they are of the athletes and their accomplishments.

Prove how much you support these high performance competitors.
