Default Bicycle Tune Up/Repair

Hi. Does anyone have a recommendation for an affordable place to get your bike tuned up in South Calgary for a very casual bike rider?

Sport Chek is a no go. Looking for a guy working out of a garage type place preferably.

Anybody got a guy?

Thanks.

Pedalhead in Lake Bonavista (same building as Canyon Meadows theatre) is excellent. Can't remember cost as mine are free with the bike for a couple years, but really great service there with quick turnaround.

Take a look at Bicycle Repair Hub. Can't beat someone coming to your house to do the repair. Time is money.

it's not South Calgary but 2nd Chance Sports on Edmonton Trail does a fine job!

I’ve went to Dan Mckean of Twisted Rim in Mahogany. He should be just what you’re looking for. 403-919-3266

related question: Can anyone recommend a good place/course where I can learn how to tune up my own bike?

A father from my daughters soccer team tunes up and maintains bikes in the summer. Works out of his garage in Mount Douglas/McKenzie Lake area. He is outstanding, honest, and cost effective.

Kip. 587-229-1126.

He markets by word of mouth, and is busy.

Park cycle YouTube videos are pretty good if you learn that way.

I have my own Bike repair company. I pickup and drop off. Work out of my garage. I got certified at Barnett's in Colorado Springs a few years back.
I build all the bikes for Specialized Alberta and some of the shops here in town have hired me to help with spring builds when the rush is on. I'm pretty busy right now and booking a week to two weeks out right now.

I'm also open to teaching if someone wants to come to my place and go over the basics. I have done courses for emergency trail maintenance and what to take on long stage races as well. One client sent me pics from BC bike race of one of his fixes. He was pretty stoked because it allowed him to finish the stage.

U of C does a full weekend course that does pretty much everything but suspension repair.

You bring your own bike and pretty much tear it down and build it back up, as well as basic tune up work.

Great course.
