Simple money transfers are not going to solve the problem.

I saw today Manitoba is looking at transferring ownership of Northern airports and other infrastructure to the Natives so they can start managing their own affairs. To me that is a MUCH better solution.

Quote:
Manitoba has begun the process of transferring the province's northern airports and marine operations to First Nations ownership and operation.

Premier Brian Pallister and Grand Chief Arlen Dumas of the Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs met Thursday to sign a memorandum of understanding that will formalize discussions toward a transfer agreement.

When complete, the transfer will allow the creation of a Manitoba First Nations Airport Authority, Dumas said in a news release from the province.

Pallister called it "a critical step toward furthering true reconciliation in Manitoba."

Forgiving land claim debts seems pretty reasonable. All of those lawsuits were caused by a direct result of the government not meeting its obligations.

Not sure if I am actually watching the live press conference from Trudeau or not, but so far its not been good.

Wont commit to actually taking down the blockades so I doubt anything changes.

Its on indigenous leadership to end the barricades. So I guess they are retiring from doing anything.

Justin's press conference is interesting, he's going to hide behind announcing no progress on the blockades by bragging about no progress with Iran and a announcement that the Corona Virus isn't killing people.

Basically its, you've been ignoring us, we pulled the Police, this is a signal to the cops in Ontario and BC to start pulling down the barricades and enforcing the court orders.

Basically Justin is now proposing what the Cons have been saying for the last two weeks.

Other then that there is nothing concrete in this press conference going forward, and its unlikely that the Blockades are going away for a good long time if the cops don't act.

I'm outraged, Justin should exclude himself from the meeting of the response team due to his speech in the press conference that mirrors Andrew Scheer.

No there's a big take away in this.

He's basically said that its no longer his problem, by encouraging the police to take action he's throwing it back to the provinces and their police

Yep pretty much absolved the federal government of doing anything.

This is brilliant politics by the Liberals.

If the cops go in to pull down the barriers and violence ensues, Trudeau can say, its not my fault. Blame the cops and the provinces. Because of that its unlikely that the cops will not react because they're exposed.

I wonder if Jagmeet Singh will stand up and call him a racist now.

Listening to the press conference with the Hereditary Chiefs and Mohawks, it comes across as go F yourself.

That we are united, doesn't look like the barricades are coming down.

Demand that the RCMP withdraw, they claim they're still there.
Demand that all work on the pipeline stop and workers removed until nation to nation talks can happen.
The talks have to happen on their land.

Trudeau and his crack team taking lessons from the Hans Blix school of hardball negotiations. Hope those chiefs are ready for the incoming strongly worded letter.

I wonder what Doug Ford is going to say, given it is a provincial issue. When is his press conference?
