I remember Fergie used to take players off late in games before international break, or in some cases sit them
Just to claim they had a knock
Don't know if the "claim" part has ever been proven or any player has ever came out to confirm that rumour.
But, not disagreeing entirely because I recall certain times what you are talking about but I also remember reading from his first book that was his biggest problem with Hansen when he was Scotland manager after Stein died. That every time Stein and him would call him up, Hansen would always pull out last minute with some form of injury.
Then he and Dalglish got butt hurt when Fergie didn't pick Hansen for the World Cup.
Same for Giggs. Surely the first question at his managerial interview should have been .... you didn't give a fata about your country when you were a player. What's changed?
Spitting on someone has to be the most disgusting thing you can do. Just so ignorant. Unbelievable that he did that, and basically for no reason at all.

Fully agreed. Very gross and absolutely no excuse for that.
On the other side, I also hate the way we treat celebrities. So many people forget that most of them are regular people when they aren't on the field.
Both sides of this exchange were thoroughly childish and should be embarrassed.
Jamie Carragher has been suspended from his pundit role on Monday Night Football and his broadcasting career at Sky Sports is hanging in the balance after he spat in the direction of a 14-year-old girl.
It is understood Carragher will not appear on Sky Sports coverage for at least the next week as bosses at the channel review his position. The former Liverpool defender had been due to appear on the coverage of the Premier League fixture between Stoke and Manchester City but was stood down amid growing calls for his resignation.
“Sky takes this matter extremely seriously and strongly condemns Jamie’s actions,” said Sky in a statement. “We have made that clear to him in person today and suspended him from his duties. It falls well below the standards we expect of our people.”

I just watched the clip and wow. I mean, theres tons of blame to go around.
Obnoxious United fans? Sure.
But I really dont understand Carra there. Hes not a Liverpool player anymore, hes a pundit now, I know it sucked to lose to United, it always does, they feel the same way when they lose to Liverpool and maybe it was just a particularly aggravating time.
But you just dont spit at people. Why did he even roll the window down?
If he doesnt roll the window down they're just yelling at a car. Turn the music up.
Inexplicable.
Anyways, slap his wrists and be done with it. Move along. Spitting on someone is despicable but not the end of the world.
If he'd bitten them though.....

He shouldn't get a slap on the wrist though. I mean his own comments on the West Ham guy who spat on another player this year talk about how despicable it is and that the FA should take a hard line. Clearly he can't be let off lightly in view of that?
And I also wanted to make sure that you saw that Spurs dived ahead of Liverpool this weekend by a single, well earned point!
a very obnoxious United fan for sure, but to honest, he only said "2-1". You shrugg or laugh that off, but whatever you do, you just don't spit at people. Disgusting behaviour, and it's a shame too because I thought he was better than that. Always kind of respected Carragher despite being a Scouser and also found him okay as a pundit. Oh well.

Agreed. I mean, its nothing. So I do wonder what else was going on, but you shouldnt spit at people.
I'm not going to sell Carra out. Moment of weakness. We'll see how he does going forward.
its not like he ran them off the road, but yeah, dont spit at people. Thats pretty low.

Stoke have a pretty tough run in. Looking more and more like they'll be joining West Brom. Southampton fired Pellegrino in their attempt to get a spark.
