Gotta respect Scottie, but man is he boring.
Not great for the game when the best player by far is so beige.

Hitting a draw into 11 green seems like a bad idea.

No kidding, unless you're Mickelson or Weir.

If that is a real offer....how can he not take it?

I hate LIV with a real passion, but good grief that kind of money is impossible to say no to..... regardless of his previous stance..

Yeah that's unsurprisingly insane, and Saudis have basically won by turning Rory.
But like others, whether they agree to merge or not, or the Saudis lose interest in 4 years and LIv goes away, Rory cashes in $850M plus whatever he sells his ownership stake for.

He could fight the good fight and he's not going to be visiting any soup kitchens anytime soon with his PGA earnings, but why should some 100th ranked schlub make 5x what you make?

The irony of the 27 actual LIV fans utterly despising Rory is pretty thick. Still mostly doubt this would elevate LIV all that much, but what it will definitely do is continue golf's descent into irrelevancy. Or maybe he, like Rahm did, thinks he'll be the great unifier to end the strife. Of course Rahm was obviously dead wrong, and he clearly has buyers remorse, but ungodly amounts of money will cushion the blow if Rory likely fails too.

If that is anywhere close to true, Rory would be silly not to take it.

Today's media reports are saying this was fabricated.

Also, Rory doesn't have exemptions to the Masters or US Open if he leaves and falls in the rankings.

It's hard to tell what Rory's relationship is with the pga tour right now, but he's a pretty rich dude already, so it's hard to see him give up on playing at the Masters and US Open for money that wouldn't really change his life much.

$850 million changes his life and those of his descendants. As well as any cause he may be passionate about.

Thing is LIV could get every player from the Tour and I still don't see anyone caring about 3 round shotgun start tournaments with nothing on the line. I guess I would watch college golf and whatever qualifier type Tour that might exist to be able to enjoy some actual competition.

British papers have Rory's net worth around 250 million. He makes about 50-60 million per year in endorsements and earnings. Is the delta of 800 million(that is probably a mix of cash and inflated team ownership if there is anything to it) and 50 million/year really that significant? How much is playing in the Masters worth to him?

I was going to post a similar thought. Googling seems to suggest he annually earns in that 50-60 range currently. It still seems to be the case that endorsements drop off significantly once you join LIV, but even so, he'd be looking at a billion dollars over the next 5 years when you throw in any remaining endorsements + LIV tournament winnings, which are significantly higher than the PGAT.

He basically qualifies for the Open Championship (60yo) and PGA championship for life, but his US Open and Masters exemptions would theoretically start deteriorating if he joined LIV- it would take a while though.

I'm sure all LIV golfers think the same- just play well enough in the majors they currently qualify for to keep going in all of them. Maybe this will work out for a few of them, but it is clear that we are (thankfully) going to see a bunch of LIV guys drop off the face of the earth in the coming years, moreso than we already have.

Anyway, gonna have huge respect for Mcilroy if that offer is legit and he still turns them down.

If the offer was legit he surely would have taken it. And I couldn't even be mad at him, not just because it's ungodly amounts of money, but Monahan used and abused him, getting to #### Monahan right back would be incredibly satisfying no doubt.

Miles Russel (the 15 year old from Fl the media wishes Charlie Woods played like) is playing his first Korn Ferry event today and is -4 through 5. He's really been a phenom in junior golf that is doing things that haven't been done since Tiger.

Scheffler leading the Heritage. We could be looking at a 2000 Tiger type year here.

He needs to go back to the blade putter to keep things interesting!

Aberg is sure looking good too, for a young guy who only turned pro last year. It seems like he'll be the best bet to be able to contend with Scottie.

Brooke just one back heading into the final round in the first major of the year in Houston. She came out of nowhere after an incredible third round.
