So yeah if they keep playing this way they will win more than they lose.
Through 2 games they have:
62.1% Corsi For
64.7% xGF For
And 21 High danger chances for and 12 against.
Problem so far has been 1 PP goal for, and 3 SH goals against.
First two games of the year have been very promising, even if they haven’t gotten the results yet. Honestly if people didn’t come into the season with any pre-existing bias about this team then they’d be really optimistic about how they’ve looked.

Sutter had a very well oiled machine in that squad. They were a far more stacked team I’d argue. I think he has a worse roster to work with mainly due to the psychological issues that have developed in this teams operating system.

LA was never crawling with scoring talent.
But they employed an effective style and did it consistently. This group is doing more of the right things consistently since the tail end of last year I'd say. It's a marked improvement over the lackadaisical efforts under Ward. So we're moving in the right direction.
It wouldn't hurt to have Markstrom play like a younger Quick for us though.

No I didn't, I said he was better in the playoffs
Giordano was a -3 tonight in a 6-1 loss...Gio isn't prime Gio we fondly remember either

Ducks 3 Flames 2 (OT)
- Flames out shoot and out play the Ducks
- Find a way to lose again, this time in overtime
- Coleman looks good
- Andersson emerges
- Second pairing struggles.

Man, two games in and it’s already frustrating. I feel like I already know how the season plays out. We will come on here after every game and the optimists will be positive, the pessimists will be negative. Both sides will claim that they’ll be proven right be the end of the season, and when the end of the season comes we will come up just short of the playoffs, or just squeak in to the playoffs and get bounced in the first round. We will have a middle of the round pick and do the same thing next year. Rinse and repeat.

Lol good answer.
Under two hundred is a possibility though.
25 from Johnny.
25 from tachuck.
25 from Coleman.
25 from lindy
20 from mangiapane.
15 from monohan.
20 from the dcore.
Backs and dube have 15 potential.
That’s 185. This team is gonna be hard pressed to break 200. IMO
Who left? Backs, dube, plus the defence corps?
How many do the dcore get as a whole this year? 20?

Sutter's system works better with decent goaltending. Goaltending has to be better if we are going to have a chance.

I think he probably needs to be moved down the lineup and backlund moved back up to 2nd. Not getting much for him, unless he is a salary makeweight not a lot of sense in trading him. But the opportunity cost of giving him so much prime ice time, especially PP is hurting the team.
Historically he was a player who thrived on quick hands, release and positioning. Never a great skater or very assertive.
Maybe it is confidence but am afraid his wrist injuries have taken a major toll on his puckhandling and wrister and he ain't coming back including this year will be three seasons now where his overall production is 0.5-0.6 ppg. Such a great person but I think the flames need to get him going fast or move on from him in the top 6 if they want to salvage the season.

There is no Kopitar or Doughty on the Flames
No Quick also and one can argue nobody as good as the prime Carter, and Richards

Don’t know what point you are trying to make,
IMO, Tkachuk and Gaudreau were the Flames 2 best players.

While preventing the penalty of a guy who actually plays on the PK
its a push or even a slight win
He played a good game overall

Such is the nature of this place.
The fate of the PGT stands upon the edge of a knife, to steal words from the great Gandalf. Last break means glee and GIF parties or doom and gloom.
There isn't much in between here.

Look at how they played the following season post the avalanche domination. Monohan went from a number one center in this group to barely top 9. Benny shipped off due to his trade demands. And a racist coach who our organization didn’t see vetted properly.
So much regression in this group. Luckily Johnny rebounded last year with a good season. Tachuck hasn’t had flip outs with this group? to suggest the psychology of the group is anything but cohesive or confident I think is fair game.

The GG team played slow and on the perimeter.
IMO the team tonight dominated the play, looked fast and dangerous.
Everyone has a right to panic but I'm more concerned that they can't continue to play this way, not that this is a losing approach. We know this is a team with fragile confidence and some tough luck games aren't going to help.

Slap Dube at center in Monahans spot and move Coleman up to that line. Monahan can play third line wing or fourth line center.

The first two a good goalie could have made the saves
Nobody can save that OT goal
The goat was Hanifin and Monahan. Looking like they have seen OT the first time in their career
