No power carts on Monday but likely will be available starting Tuesday.

Wednesday 9:00am Crossover
Thursday 9:00am Crossover

I am going to look for a new driver this winter as my current one (TM R9 SuperTri) developed a small crack this year.

I've always thought the shaft is as important (if not more) than the head. So a few questions:

1) I hit my current driver really well, though it is using the stock shaft. Is it possible to take the shaft off my current driver and fit it into a new head?

2) I've never done a fitting before - any recommendations on places? Is it typically just one session, and what sort of cost would I be looking at?

3) What do you get from a fitting? Do they match you with a particular driver/shaft combo, or do they present driver/shaft characteristics that would be beneficial, and it's up to me to find the right one? Are fittings specific to a club manufacturer, or are they more generic?

I'm probably the biggest gear head here so I'll do my best to answer you.

1) Yes it is possible to use your current shaft, but that driver/shaft is several development cycles old. Anything now is probably miles better than that. However, I'd keep it. Most adapters for current drivers are around $40. Once you have the adapter it takes 30 seconds to swap a shaft.

2) There are two custom shops in Calgary. Ted and Dave at the Golf Canada Centre on Glenmore and Simply Gold which is out of the NGA dome off McLeod. I've been to Simply Golf for a driver fitting. I wouldn't go back. Can't comment on T&D, never been. I have heard loads of good things about Modern Golf in Vancouver. If you are a Titleist guy (I am) Art who is the local rep is fantastic. Modern Golf driver fitting is probably $100 ish that is credited against a purchase (the price of which will probably make you faint).

3) A place like Modern Golf will have all shafts and all heads. Other places will only have what they carry. GolfTown only has manufacturer fitting carts and what is stored on them. Most manufacturers have 3 to 5 stock shaft options and ever exotic trick shaft you could possibly want at an upcharge, of course.

Generally, they will measure your current gamer and if they have a launch monitor take some data off a few shots for a baseline. They will compare that against the new stuff they have you hit.

I played Blue Devil on Monday. Conditions were surprisingly good and no sign of any snow. A bit of leaves here and there but the crew was out raking.

I wanna get out a few more times this week but I can't find a tee time! I can't even go to my course because it's all full!!

Going to get in one last round on Friday, I was skeptical that was going to happen after the Labor Day weekend.

Came within 6 inches of getting a hole in one at Nanton today.

Hit a nice iron shot on hole #3 with the ball landing on the front part of the green, bouncing once and rolling to within inches of the hole. Of course the guys were getting all excited as they thought we were going drinking. Sadly for them it didn't happen

If there's bright side, my credit card was saved from taking a big hit

Nanton will be open Monday and Tuesday of next week before they close.

Speargrass will be open as long as the weather stays decent.

All booked for Serenity on Tuesday. Played it a few days ago and the conditions were very good. No sign of snow.

Turned out to be a great day for golf. My course was doing a cross over in the morning starting groups on #1 and #10 for the first few hours. Did the front 9 in an hour and 15 minutes but the back was slower as it took us 2 1/2 hours as it was backed up.

Got a time for tomorrow booked.

Pro hinted they may stay open until next weekend.

Was able to get in the Sirocco shotgun tomorrow.

Might be the last round of the year.

Courses are still in great shape in Mtl, but it’s going to be a chilly round today at around plus 5 or so and quite windy. I’m hoping to get in a few more rounds before the snow falls and ends it. My handicap has finally returned to single digits over the last few rounds, so sad to end the season.

Has anyone had any good experiences with all inclusives that have unlimited golf? Or accomodations that include that?

I was looking at the DR in Feb but can’t stomach paying $200US per round, and if I’m taking a golf vacation, I want to play 36 a day. Options seem to be quite limited. Went to Moon Palace in Cancun a few years ago for a wedding - but it wasn’t unlimited golf - you could use resort credits toward the green fees, which were steep.

Friday was a spectacular day to play and Elbow Springs was in very good shape. Unfortunately my game did not show up and I ended up shooting my worst round of the season. I hadn't swung a club since late August and it showed, and unfortunately their range was closed so no chance to hit some balls before playing. Still a great way to end the season as I doubt I will get out again. Bit of a bummer this year as I had hoped to get new clubs but just never seemed to get the time to do so. Maybe over the winter.

My course is open until Sunday. That said I've decided to pack it in for the season. Finished the year with 68 rounds.
