Duly noted. I'll move the satire out of the satire thread.

Crap, should this have been in the sarcasm thread?
Thank you. Once or twice it's funny but we get it. People complained about the Peace bridge. Ha ha ha. Funny stuff! Maybe remind us once more for good times sake in a sarcastic post that people complained about it because that's funny stuff!

For the record, that was complete satire. During the thread that inspired this thread title, there was massive complaining that the Peace Bridge was only for residents of Sunnyside so no one else should have to pay for it. I see you joined after that thread had run it's course, so understandably that wasn't obvious.

There's a new pedestrian bridge going up at Westbrook Mall to replace the old one. I hope it's extremely controversial and puts all the NIMBY'ers into a chaotic rage.

Should spend $100 million on it and clean it with NIMBY tears

Is it replacing the existing one - ole' rusty? When is it slated to be installed?

Know of any renderings?

Malls usually take like 20 years to catch up. This is definitely a 1999 looking post-modernist architecture mall design. I'm sure that in the 2020s, CF can just add more vertical cladding to cover up the rounded, angular beige bits. Hell, underneath the whole thing is a 1950s International Style professional building with bits of brutalist architecture in the rest.

From what I'm aware of, design just got underway. I would say an early 2018 arrival date? I could be wrong though.

Drawings of Chinook's potential expansion.

Shows a ramp that would carry traffic from northbound Macleod Trail directly into a new parkade.

The application is expected to go to planning commission and city council later this spring.

Chinook Centre is seriously the Evil Empire.

If it wasnt sandwiched between a main road and some rich as hell NIMBYs it would probably have a roller-coaster and its own airport.

When they invent anti-gravity technology Chinook Centre is just going to be this enormous lumbering mass floating above us and children will think that its where God lives.

"If we wanted beauty, we’d travel to Paris"

The controversial Peace Bridge is now one of the most-used walking and cycling routes in Calgary. The councillor behind it reveals the project’s stormy process

Wrong thread, this is for the airing of grievances.

I feel sorry for some of the city councillors. They're going to be forgotten as soon as they're out of city council and really have no legacy at all, while those who actually bring something to the city will be remembered for it.

Oh don't worry Farrell will have a long remembered legacy. Being remembered and having a legacy isn't always a good thing as a good councilor can do their jobs well without making noise and being front and center on controversial subjects.

Happy 10 year anniversary to the Peace bridge!

I wonder if Rick Bell ever walked on it?

The new Jaipur bridge in Eau Claire opened a few days ago, it's wider than its predecessor so that is quite nice. However I think they could have still made it even wider.
