How long ago was this?! I thought TSN people just stayed in one role for their whole life.
Previous to TSN he worked at ITV in Edmonton, or what would be Global I believe.

Dutchyshen and Mike Toth came to TSN at the same time and did Sportsdesk together. They lasted together not much more then a few months.

But that has to be nearly 25 years ago now.

i remember watching itv when i was younger (not sure why we got an edmonton channel in kelowna - oh well). i liked it becuz shows were an hour earlier than the bc broadcasts and i could catch the sports before going to bed.

dutchy always cracked me up - he used all the cheesiest sports cliches - it was great... well... except that he was verrrrry pro oiler... therefore no good!

edit.... bahahahahaha!!! how good is it that whoever posted the video uses frankenberry as his avatar?!?!

Edmonton is No Good VII: There's Something in the Water (It's frozen and the Oilers have to skate on it).

The national media finally realizing just how awful the Oilers are is hysterical.

I normally hate it when the TO media talks about all the ontario players wanting to go play near home BUT in this case I think it is excellent and I hope the mild to heavy tampering by the media to bring the leafs another shiny object in McDavid begins, because while the leafs have no space to sign him, at least the constant talk of "will McDavid request a trade" will eventually get to him and he will do it, just anything to get out of Edmonton.

Best case scenario:

leafs get busted for tampering and lose picks. Oilers Lose mcDavid to bufffalo or florida or somewhere else we don't have to worry about.

Oilers then proceed to use the new found cap space (and a bit more somehow) on resigning Eberle and hall and it will all have come full circle!

If things continue this way for the Oilers, and all indications are that they will. I could see ESPN making a documentary in 10-20 years, something to the effect of: “Destroying a superstar: How the Edmonton Oilers ruined one of the greatest natural talents the sport has ever seen”

I'd love to see this, spoiler tags for fictional speculation.

Spoiler!

The river valley is gross and full of syringes. Never want to go in there again.

"the Oilers were a mess of an organization for a long time due to poor ownership and bad management...Those aren't problems anymore."

Oh yeah, totally. With no changes to management or ownership, other than getting rid of the worst GM of the 21st century, I can totally see how they've clearly moved on from the morons who got them into such a horrible position to begin with. And by "moved on from" I mean kept and promoted.

The best part of Edmonton: A place you can go where it almost feels like you're no longer in Edmonton.
