I believe Stockton's training camp will be starting soon because they're supposed to start playing on February 5. Robinson and Mackey will likely be sent down so that they can get playing time.
Stone and Ritchie will likely stay on the taxi squad with Domingue unless they're required for an emergency. Ryan, Rinaldo, and Kylington will be activated from time to time and get into game action (Ryan more often than the others, as we've already seen).

Seems like they don't want to do that to save some cap space. Going to try and manage with 20 or 21.
Suspect this means Mackey is headed to Stockton so he can play.
Exactly, just pointing out they have room to carry Stone but you're right I would expect a move or two to be made. Mackey seems likely as does a guy like Robinson or Rinaldo

I applaud the Flames owners. Guessing they will lose $40-50M this year. Ritchie and Stone are up to an additional $1.4M that they are spending just as a contingency. Even Ritchie's minor league salary of $125K is money they did not need to spend

Some otherwise intelligent people just lose their minds over a signing like this.
If the Flames swiftly sent Mackey to the AHL, promoted Stone and healthy scratched Nesterov for tonight's game my mouth would hang open.
But what's the point in jumping to that extreme when all they did (to this point) is sign free defensive depth for a taxi squad.
To me this comes down to Nesterov. If he wasn't looking like a good fit, Mackey would draw in. But he's been money so Mackey may not play as much, send him down and add a guy to the taxi squad.
