Happy to see that lineup adjustment.

I’m a big Derek Ryan fan, but if he’s playing anywhere other than fourth line C, there’s a problem (unless he’s doing fill-in duty at centre up the roster due to injury or whatever).

He’s a natural centre and so is Backlund. They looked so awkward playing together the other night, especially in the defensive zone. Both instinctively go to the same locations because they both play the position so responsibly. Made me wonder why they activated Ryan from the taxi squad only to force him in on the wing (beyond having an extra centre in the lineup).

When they shifted Bennett to Backlund’s line and Ryan to Lucic’s, you could see both lines re-stabilize, to some extent.

I understand (and have long wanted) the experiment of moving Lindholm from wing to centre, but I don’t understand the attempts to play natural centres (Backlund/Ryan) on the wings...(even if there’s a glut).

Anyway—very intrigued to see what that roster rolls out tonight!

The fourth line was a mess last game, the third line ineffective ... Bennett moving up seemed to fix the third line but did nothing for the fourth.

Can't imagine rooting against hope for the home side. Must be fun.

Well my daughter (two weeks old tomorrow) got her first taste of the emotional roller coaster that comes with being a Flames fan on Thursday when she slept through them blowing that game.

Hopefully she can sleep through her first ever Flames win tonight.

I'll give the team a sample size of games into the season before I start thinking about who's ticking me off and who I think would be the one to move.

The Flames ALWAYS....always start slow. Thats just a fact. At no time can I recollect a strong crazy start to any season.


So put away the hangmans cowl, axe and noose for a couple weeks.

We haven’t seen seven previous seasons from these players, six from Bennett?

I’m looking at it from a measured angle. Always hope and root for the win, but don’t agonize over the reality of these players in our lineup. Some of us have come to terms with this team being good but not elite until we’ve upgraded on them.

Every second post is always a complaint about the lines. It’s hilarious.
