What a joke he gets a 10 week ban for this?

Barry glendening said it best on FW, will players have to not tell the missus if they are moving country until the signings are announced going forward in case they place a tenner on it?

Wow that is insane. Maybe go after the betting companies for allowing bets that have so much opportunity for insider trading. If that is the only evidence they had then it would have been crazy to get 1 game let alone 10 weeks.

As crazy as it sounds he broke the rule of law.

Problem is the evidence they have is damming. Especially the lump it on part.
The only thing that'll work for him in his appeal is that he's not the one instigating the conversation or volunteering the info. Seems like both conversations are people fishing for info.
But the lump it on screws up any defence he might have in E8.3 below.

Quote:
E8.1 A Participant shall not bet, either directly or indirectly, or instruct, permit, cause or enable any person to bet on -
E8.1.1 the result, progress, conduct or any other aspect of, or occurrence in or in connection with, a football match or competition; or
E8.1.2 any other matter concerning or related to football anywhere in the world, including, for example and without limitation, the transfer of players, employment of managers, team selection or disciplinary matters.
E8.2 Where a Participant provides to any other person any information relating to football which the Participant has obtained by virtue of his or her position within the game and which is not publicly available at that time, the Participant shall be in breach of this Rule where any of that information is used by that other person for, or in relation to, betting.
E8.3 It shall be a defence to a charge brought pursuant to sub-paragraph E8.2 if a Participant can establish, on the balance of probability, that the Participant provided any such information in circumstances where he did not know, and could not reasonably have known, that the information provided would be used by the other person for or in relation to betting.

Yeah the fact that you can bet on where a player signs seems to be the issue here.

Kind of feel bad for KT. Just having a friendly chat with a friend who puts him in a bad spot by even asking that question.

A third tier team knocked Madrid out of the copa del Rey today and they even had a guy sent off. What’s going on? Zidanes days numbered?

That's why Cup matches (in almost all countries) are tons of fun. Lower tier clubs dare to dream, and every once in a while, the dream comes true.

Look how jacked we all were when Cavalry beat Whitecaps last season.

Sacking Favre hasn't been the turnaround Dortmund had hoped for, they still look so disjointed. Going to be another loss today and making top 4 is going to be a real challenge for them ... both Leverkusen and Gladbach have played better football lately and both Wolfsburg and Union have been grinding out results too. Will be interesting who they'll appoint this summer because Terzic surely isn't going to be the solution going forward.

Barcelona have released their financial reports, and boy, it's ugly. I think people underestimate just how dire their situation really is ... and it doesn't help when you're still on the hook for a number of transfer payments.

https://twitter.com/user/status/1353732515580817411

and that's just short-term ... there's apparently another €196m on top of that which goes beyond the financial year.

Have fun trying to buy Wijnaldum. They can pay us the Transfer fee and then loan him back to us.

This is what happens when you run your business like some sort of autocratic fiefdom.

If you click on the tweet the thread mentions how 5 lenders have been.asked by barca to delay their payment dates, they have imminent debt of 300m, negative working capital of 600m

FFP is doing its job quite well as we watch one of the two biggest clubs in the world flirt with bankruptcy.

And the thing is, its hard to even blame COVID. Sure, its not helping by keeping fans out of the stands, but these clubs make unthinkable money on TV deals, sponsorships, etc.

Its just terrible management.

I wouldnt be surprised if, on an annual basis Barcelona makes more on their TV revenue than the entire NHL.
