wranglers Yelesin not in Heat lineup this afternoon: Call-up TBA?

Which means Hamonic might be out for a while..

Heat have also recalled a D-man from Kansas City Mavericks.

Not much on Stockton's blueline after Rinat Valiev. The organization could use more blueliners in the system.

Can definitely see a move for a depth defenceman.

Can they sign that overage kid from the silver tips? Christianson? Already a connection with the Heat I believe

They'd have to wait until the Silvertips' season is over. With the way they're playing, that won't be until well into April or May.

Not a bad idea actually.

There are a few veteran defensemen still sitting out that might accept a 2-way deal for the rest of the season.

Would they have to go through waivers?

I don't believe so, as long as they haven't played a professional game anywhere in the world this season.

When Cujo signed with the Flames in 2008, he didn't require waivers because the only hockey he had played that season was the Spengler Cup. When Nabokov signed with the Red Wings in 2011, he did require waivers because he had played games in the KHL that season -- and he was claimed by the Islanders.

I would have no complaints with Schlemko.

Now Phaneuf, on the other hand...

I'd prefer Phaneuf or McQuaid. Brings some toughness and defensive stability to the back end

I'd take the Calgary era Phaneuf in a heartbeat. This team needs some of that fire that he played with.

Too bad several teams ruined his wild side by trying to make him a resposible NHL defensemen. His defensive play never did improve, despite the odd hint of improvement that was always unfounded.
His hitting ability back then was worth the defensive blunders.

I am actually kind of excited to see what Yelesin can bring given the opportunity.
