Looks like Ron Bremner is still available. Who would have thought anyone would have made him look good in retrospect. When the Flames history gets published his byline will be "at least he wasn't Ken King".

Perhaps King could employ prisoners and slaves and cut down on his labour costs.
For a guy as high-brow as he is, he sure 'thinks' and 'maybe's', 'assumes' and 'doesn't necessarily's' a lot. He was as prepared as he was for Calgary Next, which was a travesty. Not sure how any of the owners or execs can stand him

At the time I thought the Calgarynext presentation wasn't necessarily badly prepared and they were just being guarded with the details and keeping things simple.
After seeing their strategy and approach since you realize they are either scrimping on their backend office staff or somebody without a lot of depth is (badly) micromanaging everything.
I love the Flames, probably a little too much, and the way this has all played out has been pretty hard to watch.
Just hope it ends with a new building and the Flames sticking around. I know everybody thinks it is a longshot, but man it would be devastating if they left, and for me personally who is right or wrong would become meaningless.

The most interesting thing about King's press conference is out how of depth he is when dealing with the regular Calgary news media. The guy has been in the Flames bubble so long and hasn't had to face any tough questions he seemed flabbergasted when asked relatively hard but mostly fair questions.

Yeah, we know your position. You don't want public funds used at all. No matter how little, is my guess. I suspect you wouldn't care if the Flames left.
But he was wrong. Even the most one-sided reading of the Flames offer didn't say what he was saying. And they wouldn't be stealing money. It's overheated rhetoric that's unhelpful.

As much as we love the Flames they're not the greatest organizationally.
Pre-game ceremonies are often bad
The anthem still has an organ
At one point had 4 home jerseys
Picked the wrong jersey for Adidas
Retired numbers AND forever a flame
Weird in game experience
We love them, but when you see ceremonies in Montreal for example, you can see how disorganized the Flames are.

Pretty rich that a guy from Springbank, who literally pays 0$ per year to the City's infrastructure, has such strong opinions on how the City should spend its money or develop its infrastructure.

Yeah, no one from Springbank spends any money in the City, employs anyone in the City or pays to use any City facilities.
ETA: and what strong opinions are those?

I think organizationally would be more how they run their staff, how they handle travel, player movement, medical issues, whether the team facilities work well, the handling of the farm, etc.

I think this sort of talk is getting there. Its a pity as before the presser today I thought there was the beginning of coming together of thinking there was fault on both sides and room for improvement on both sides. But KK has blown that all out of the water.
Similar to this, even if the City decided to minus off of the repay all the items already on the books and infrastructure elements, like the LRT station, I think it would be fairer.

Just out of curiosity, do people living in Springbank pay property tax to the City of Calgary?
