Apparently while doing some filming in Toronto, she donned the suit once more to do some busking after being challenged to do so by the original blue ranger..

until one of the power rangers ties a couple of people to a boat anchor and tosses em over board its not gritty enough.

Oh wait that actually happened in real life.

As soon as they started talking about the war with machines and I saw Katee Sackhoff I kind of groaned.

The ending was dopy as well. It went from gritty to cartoonish in a second. And where were the putey men.

That looks terrible. Legitimately awful.

Technically a this is taking place after the Rangers lost the battle with the machine people in Neo, I think. I have no idea.

Agree with Locke though. Just very Edmonton.

Lots of interesting stylistic choices in that short. The visuals looked great (green ranger's shield especially) and I've never seen subtitles that interesting. The nod to the Blue Ranger being gay was an especially nice touch considering actor David Yost's rocky history with the production team (Cliffs notes, he's gay, and some of the crew gave him #### saying a gay guy couldn't be a superhero).

Power Rangers doesn't need a gritty reboot, and I don't think the goal was to turn the short into a feature film about MMPR.

That said, it's a helluva calling card, and I'd give that director some money to make a real movie on the strength of it.

What's next? A horror story based on the Smurfs?

Apparently this Power Rangers film is by the same director. I didn't really care for this but that Punisher one was amazing.

(No, that's not an actual comic book.)

Oh, and let's not forget one of my favourite Smurf stories, King Smurf, where the Smurfs descend first into a tyranny and then an all out civil war
