Default Ski/Snowboard Tuning

So I'm pretty good about waxing my family's boards on a regular basis, but I don't know what to do about sharpening edges. I used to have kind of a brass tool with a file on it that I'd run along edges but I can't find it and to be honest I don't even know if I was even using it right in the first place.

Is there a good BIFL (buy it for life) tool out there I could get that is dead easy to use?

There was a decent one posted in this year's ski thread but I'm too lazy to look for it.

KUU has a good manual for the DIYer.

My recommendation is to stay away from the basic KUU metal one though and get something that slides better. The basic metal ones scrape the bases pretty good.
