I played Mountainside over Easter and I was really impressed with the conditions.

Eagle is awesome.

Real nice course. Beautiful property. I have heard complaints that the course can be difficult to access during the weeknight evenings. Not much different than any other course as 2 nights a week are almost always league nights. The course is great if you like to walk... very good layout for walkers.

I’ve played it in August the last 2 years and they had serious wasp issues. Not sure if this is an annual thing or just odd timing on my part.

Conditions were good, but that 2nd or 3rd last hole is a spaz.

Eagle is awesome, just wished the greens were a bit quicker

I had an epiphany on the golf course today. Been struggling with my swing the last couple of weeks and today I simply slowed down my swing and focused on tempo and amazingly things came together. No more topping the ball or trying to kill it.

It's frustrating because you spend all summer working on your swing and everything you gained gets lost of the winter and basically you have to start all over again. This time it's coming back more quickly than in the past and for me that is a good thing.

The only nagging problem I have now is rimming the edge of the cup on short putts. IIRC I did it abut 6 times this afternoon.

Talk about painful.
The scramble rule on putting need to be changed. If you putt to tap in distance, you still have to mark your ball and let your partner putt. Because if you tap it in, you will get two while your partner still could one putt it. The rule should allow the tap in and if your partner one putt it, just give your team the lower score.

I mean, I haven't played a scramble where this isn't done. Take the par or whatever unless others on your team make the putt.

Maybe they aren't serious scrambles though.

That's good to hear but for all the scrambles I've played in, if you tap in, you get that score and your partners aren't allow to putt for a potential lower score.

I've never done it like that in a scramble, it is always putt it in for the 2 putt or whatever and then your partners have a chance to do better. Then again, there is a lot of booze involved in most of the scrambles I have ever been in.

So it's over a month into the new season and myself and the guys i play with have fully adopted leaving the flag stick in for all putts. It genuinely improves our pace, so it's a good thing. Personally, I'm putting better from the all important inside of 10 foot distance. Unfortunately, I've noticed a disturbing number of mutilated holes from lazy people digging the ball out with their putters. Human nature being what it is, I can't see that improving soon.

I'm surprised you remember anything. How did you get home?

Does anyone use the Golf Canada Card? I bought it one year a few seasons ago, but since then it's seemed like not a great deal. Anyone have a different opinion?

Well I must say... getting sick of playing golf in overcast windy weather.

Have played 6 rounds so far this year and 5/6 have been at least 25km/hr wind and cold. All the crummy weather seems to be hitting on the weekends.

Annoying!

Played McKenzie Meadows today. Greens look like they got hammered in the off season. Lots of winter kill and a temp green on the fourth hole. Still tarped even so it will likely be a temp green for a while.

Leaving for a golf trip in Cranbrook on Thursday... for the love of god give us some decent weather!!!

I played Black Mountain in Kelowna on Saturday. Nice track there and $75 for golf and cart plus $10 for the snack shack was a great deal!

Speaking of scrambles, I just played in a four man at the facility which is the University of Arizona home course. A Notah Begay design that is bitching tough. Winning team shot a 51, five better than anyone else. Fifteen birdies and three eagles! In all my years in the game, never saw a score that low, and that included playing an event with Rich Beam. Anyone ever hear of a score that low on a championship course?

I thought it was way better than tower ranch. Maybe a couple gimmicky holes but nothing that bad.
